No work travel for me for the past two+ years......prior to that it was basically all work. I was a weekly DOM & 6 week Int commuter - these days almost all air travel is with the family:D

Last 12 months:
3000+ SC for leisure
10 SC for business

I assume that means I'm no longer unemployed at least.

Just gone WP - 100% all flights leisure travel. Great feeling to know earnt with my own hard cash and not some big Corporation bucks. Now, when is that F Club facial?

Trouble is you won't want to lose it. On the positive it will be easier next time around.

wow didn't know quite a lot of people on AFF get status via holiday/personal travel :)

I much prefer the fact that someone big corporation paid for my WP status ;)

Hi All,

Just curious who here have FF status based on personal holiday travel? i.e. not travelling for work. Are there many? :)

The best I got up to on personal travel was silver for MH and VS.

I have CX gold but that's via amex.

Thanks,
K.

Most of my SC come via status runs in the USA (though I did take advantage of the OOL run and went flexi MEL-SYD-OOL and return and have a WLG-SYD-LAX JASA booked for April).

Nearly all my flying is for personal/leisure (holidays or visiting friends/family). Last year I think I scored 60SC or so via work, this year it is none (and likely to remains so I suspect, I used to plan on one work trip to Sydney a year but those days seem to be over).

Generally aim to do SC runs up to Plat and then parachute down from there (back to Gold now, though will make it back to Plat in April, so will only have had about 6 moths as Gold, so not quite following my master plan). If I can break the addiction I'll settle for silver once I hit LTS and only sometimes go higher (ie. when I have a RTW trip every few years go for Gold/Plat, but otherwise settle for less).

Myself and +1's travel is all leisure.
We are now using a combination of rec leave, RDOs and long service leave to take lots of holidays each year...
That's what happens when the kids have all finished uni and have left home

Less than 10% work, mostly all leisure and pleasure in the past 3 years. A few SC runs included thanks to AFF, to maintain my status.

Likely will be a QP NB in a couple years when I have to be a more responsible with my finances.

MrsDeKa has QF Gold based on leisure flights only. Retaining it might be a challenge though.

I haven't travelled for work in nearly 4 years and back then I never got beyond bronze. Now I'm gold through leisure travel and status runs.

No work travel here for myself or +1 either (and never has been). All SCs have been earned (and paid for!) the hard way, a combination of holidays and our first ever status run this year, and we've both hit Gold!!! Now the hard part will be keeping it - keeping fingers crossed for some double SC offers as have always missed out on the previous ones!

All leisure travel here.. and I've managed to maintain NZ Gold (even hit Gold Elite twice) for about 5 years now...

ONE Status run in that time when it was needed....

Removing the QF blinkers for a moment, it's not too difficult to get star alliance gold status through personal travel. A return trip to Europe in a full points earning class will almost do it!

Currently QF WP - all personal travel, with help from a few KUPPs in USA, JASAs and double SCs. Challenge is to keep status.

I'm totally SFSC. I went WP about 10 years ago while still working and made LTG just before retiring in 2006 and have maintained WP continuously since getting there.

I do a DONEx every year (did one AONE5 in the last year of the 20-sector paper-ticket xONEx's). I also utilise well-priced JASAs.

Maintaining WP is easy - keeping PartnerJohnM PG has become a stretch since they enhanced the SCs needed from 2100 to 2400, but I've managed it each year since the enhancement because I've had some double SC offers. I'm probably PG dead without those :-|.

Or some "Non-Refundable" First Class in the USA (AKA K/YUPP's) ...

BTW, similar can work for velociy on DL / VAm ...

50/50 leisure/business - Certainly don't wish work to dictate my travel preferences

*All self full tax paying funded- nil govt. subsidies/allowances/corporate paid &/or subsidies/sponsorship/charity org. or otherwise.
* Therefore, I proudly regale myself to the minority.
