Whilst I can appreciate that the board needs new input on a regular basis, do we need so much input from twice a year aviators (that have not a clue)?

Sometimes people who feel they have been wronged (rightly or wrongly), need to vent.

It happens on most boards as far as I can tell. Not sure there is much that can be done about it.

Heh, I fly twice a week on average, but I don't have a clue :)

Can't disagree Mark and in reality there is not much that can be done. The concern is that an unrealiable and bigoted poster can acheive a much higher level of recognition than they deserve.

e.g. the puerile: "Qantas didn't empty my portapotty, wipe my bum or upgrade me because I've flown twice to Woolongong" (hypothetical itinerary).

Yes you do old son, unless you need a permanent carer! The point is that the regular traveller does not need to be ****ed around the way the unwashed are!

And with more people flying these days more people are wronged. Does that say something about airline service in general?

I don't believe so. Simple politeness to the people that are important (no I don't mean that feel important) yields great benefits. The retards in the security queue I do not consider in the equation.

In short, the service given by QF is very good. If you don't think so, try coping with a flight cancallation in Kano with Nigerian Airways!

Get a life mate!

You don't really know until they're given a chance

Many first time posters may have come across this board with an axe to grind and post as such.

A few of these have a wealth of experience and knowledge - with time they may realise the board has members who have kindred experiences and their tone changes from belligerence to brother/sisterhood.

Of course, some post a rant, rant some more and never come back.

So, please, give everyone time; you never know how valuable a member they may become.

When I first came across AFF, I made 8 posts in about 3 hours and thought no more of it.

The next day I had a PM asking who the h*ck I was and what was I doing posting to three month (??) old posts. (I did a couple of these )

I was taken aback, but replied concisely, truthfully and without rancour and continued to post.

It did help that I had been doing the FF flyer thing solo for 10 years and and plenty to share - and, plenty to learn. :D

You are a sweetie Serfy. Without doubt you are the person that I will consider man sex with!

The retards in the security queue I do not consider in the equation.

The only person I have ever felt compelled to lodge a written complaint with to Qantas was one of the members of this group.

Trouble is I meet a lot of these people in the priority security line in Sydney T3. "Yeah walk up to the x-ray machine and then decide to sort of your cough out, I don't might waiting here all organised, having taken the time to sort my cough without holding anyone else up."

Then again a lot more of them in all in security line in Adelaide. "I know it's a queue but I'm here sorting my cough, you don't have to stand there and wait for me, the x-ray machine is free, you can go around"

....The retards in the security queue I do not consider in the equation.

I was presently surprised the other day to see that PER had security lines for Gold & Platinum frequent flyers to pass through - finally some thought for the regular fliers vs the twice a year flyers wearing gun metal charms and bracelets....

and was surprised WA managed to beat another state with such an innovative measure :)

Yes, but no one was manning it the other day when l went through PER. Bunch of bogans held me up. Same in the SYD que. There was someone from QF there, but they weren't paying attention to who was going through (and by the looks of it, couldn't really give a toss).
l must say, good on QF implementing it and l guess it will be rolled out at maybe BNE and MEL soon (if it hasn't already???)

Teh interwebs is full of trolls - often I try to ignore them. More often (due to a personal character flaw) I fail to ignore them (although I am doing surprsingly well on macrumors - there are more than enough indignant people responding to the trolls for me already).

As the site grows it becomes more noticed in the nonAFF community which pushes it up the search engines which brings more people which pushes it up the search engines...

What I think is interesting is that we have an a slight increase in the number of first post anti-Qf rants at the same time that QF have been pretty much out of the news... no "crashes", no strikes, nonews...

This benefit is very handy when travelling F with AA in the USA with dedicated security lines. As for the other topic, I only fly three times a year internationally but get heaps of info from this forum which, because of the info here, is why I book YUPPs in the USA.

No news means nowhere to leave unfounded, negative comments.

Yep, but in Oz the security lines are hardly that bad (PER may be the exception) that such lines are essential ... Long lines in Oz seem to be just as quick as the short F lines in the USA. The other day at MEL there were about 15-20 people ahead of me - uh-oh I thought - but still passed through in a relatively quick 3 or 4 mins.

On the original topic, there does seem to be a lot of people with grievances against QF that are hit and runs here on AFF. It usually seems to be expectations not matching reality. Personally I don't see it as a problem, as usually more experienced members of AFF put these hit and run posters into context and a post count of 1 or 2 usually says it all!
