Who is a frequent flyer?

I was presently surprised the other day to see that PER had security lines for Gold & Platinum frequent flyers to pass through - finally some thought for the regular fliers vs the twice a year flyers wearing gun metal charms and bracelets....

and was surprised WA managed to beat another state with such an innovative measure :)

When I was in the "Business or Platinum" line though on Wednesday morning, the other line was moving faster due to their lack of laptops and less hand luggage.:(

Good idea, but I think they need to fine tune it a little.

See similar quite often when flying in Asia, and has an attendant waiting to check your boarding pass. If you aren't a VIP (F or J) flyer they direct you to the usual queue. Have been turned away on several occasions when travelling with a J colleague - I was only a lowly Platinum flying Y. ;)

Can't be too hard - you only need an airport or QF staff member to do the same; but of course that would actually involve "service".

Around 0900 on Wednesday of this week at PER the only line open through security was the SG/WP line so the other "not so" frequent flyers had no other option.

Hi,

I was there at 0545 wednesday and they had two lines operating.

Must be for peak times only.

When I went through PER the other day there was no one except me in either line, so I missed any sense of jet-setting glamour, self-importance and self-satisfaction at swanning past the plebs :(

I would have changed flights until I could fulfil the dream...

The problem when I was there was the pleb line was faster than the express line.

Re: You don't really know until they're given a chance

When I first came across AFF, I made 8 posts in about 3 hours and thought no more of it.

The next day I had a PM asking who the h*ck I was and what was I doing posting to three month (??) old posts. (I did a couple of these )

You see the answer to that kind of aggression is very simple: if they don't want people posting to older posts, then they should disallow it or delete the post in its entirety.

Last time I checked Conroy's internet filter isn't up and running yet so we still do have "freedom" of speech :p

On the original topic, there does seem to be a lot of people with grievances against QF that are hit and runs here on AFF. It usually seems to be expectations not matching reality. Personally I don't see it as a problem, as usually more experienced members of AFF put these hit and run posters into context and a post count of 1 or 2 usually says it all!

Personally, I find such posts rather entertaining. A bit like those intelligible and well-informed commentariats on nonews articles...

I believe that the AFF settings have been changed such that posts older than 18 months are automatically locked now

The actual PM was from a long time member. It wasn't really aggressive either.

This has been the case for approx 20 hours.

Trouble is I meet a lot of these people in the priority security line in Sydney T3. "Yeah walk up to the x-ray machine and then decide to sort of your cough out, I don't might waiting here all organised, having taken the time to sort my cough without holding anyone else up."

Then again a lot more of them in all in security line in Adelaide. "I know it's a queue but I'm here sorting my cough, you don't have to stand there and wait for me, the x-ray machine is free, you can go around"

I used to be nice and wait for the first kind, but now I just walk through and dump my stuff ahead of theirs. Sure they give me some evil looks, but I'm halfway to the QP by the time they've figured out their umbrella and aerosol can are in the studded jacket they're still wearing, or whatever.

The latter (please go around), always welcome : ) I try and do the same, should I ever have not managed to extricate my laptop by the time I'm approaching the x-ray.

I've already got the laptop out of it's bag before I even get within 5m of security.
If I need to queue, I'm taking off the belt and putting the phone, wallet and keys in the bag whilst I wait.

And yes, I'll push to the front at those security lines that will allow it - dirty looks - don't care; my time is precious and I can't help it if you are totally unprepared and un-organised; security measures have been in place for over 20 years - so they can't plead ignorance (or can they??)

Time waits for no man - especially when he wants to get to the QP for an afternoon beer or morning coffee! ;)

Hit the front and it all goes through with ease. You can spot a newbie in line when they're chatting away, drink bottle in hand along with all the jewellery and jackets; use the time well and it will speed things up considerably guys!!

The only thing I notice is the guy in the first row seat of the narrow aisled plane stay in the aisleway while removing layers of clothes slowly.
Now if that is you please get your clobber off earlier than boarding......

What is notice when I'm slowly getting my carrying stowed is that some people just will not go past. I normally stand in the seat space with maybe one foot just in the aisle. People stand there and get huffy at me???

As for the guy in row 1 that's business his time is soooooo much more valuable. ;)

Hey Medhead I was not referring to the folks who undress in their seat area.
I am referring to those few who really block the aisle and fortunately there are not too many of them now.

Hey Medhead I bought 2 cpap batteries and the Resmed inverters for $600 in the US so my snoring on the A380 does not get me jettisoned when we are in the air.
Peace for all around me now!

I realise that, those people are annoying as anything. Just I also notice that when I try to get out of the way I still get evil stares :( of course I'll continue to try to get out of the way.

Good news on the batteries etc. I'll have to look into it but not for a while as I'm still trying to pay off buying the cpap
