"Youth shall not daunt them,
nor lack of years condemn.
At the going up of the plane,
and the thrill of the ride,
we rejoice with them!"

As you can guess, #2 for me as well.

I took my first solo flight in my teens - going from Sydney to visit family in Melbourne. Took a fair number of flights in those years and found out that 'chance it with Ansett' was accurate (and hated the garish organge interiors), much preferred travelling TAA (vale to a great airline). Maybe that helps explain why I am such a stickler for Qantas.

Keep up your interest, m8 - and hope that there are many, many flying hours as part of your future.

We almost need to start a new thread.

What is the average age of the AFF reader.

Of the ones we surveyed during Brisbane Drinks 21 April 2010.

The average age was 35 years, you may consider my age as a little above average.;)

Going by all the members who have listed their ages on their profiles (and thus in the calendar), of a 68 person sample over the whole year, the average age is 44.

I'm 27 and been posting since late last year - wish I'd known about AFF sooner as I've missed out on quite a few things... the folly of youth :(

44 is older than I thought; now there is a quite a few members who haven't posted their ages but going through the combination of the AFF calendar and facebook then the 44 would be close to the mark.

Now I wonder if I could rank them from oldest to youngest.

I was only 19 when I joined flyertalk. I don't think that there were any decent travel related usenet newsgroups on the internet when I was the OPs age. And BBSes were sort of limited back then, and so was CompuServe, etc.

NB, my 10 month old son has already been to NZ, Singapore and Indonesia on four different airlines, but I think he is a bit young to be writing intelligible trip reports. I think DownUnderFlyer's child(ren) are even more well travelled.

Yet I am still yet to leave Australia, I don't even have a passport yet, I suppose I will see all of Australia first before I venture out into that vast area, I'm guessing either a trip to NZ, Singapore or Tokyo will be my first trip out of Oz

I have no interest in alcohol at the QC, alcohol has done very bad things to people I love very much and as far as I'm concerned i will never touch the stuff.

Food in the QC now thats a different story, try and keep me away from that!

All my friends are out partying and making as**s of themselves, again I have no interest. I would rather be sitting mile high on a plane, everyone has their own fun in their own way, if they want to call me weird then so be it, BECAUSE I DON'T CARE

I say good on you for sticking to your convictions. I think that if more young ppl were like you, society would be all the better for it.

Australia has a lot to see that you’ll forever be visiting more undiscovered places. Don’t wait till you’ve seen it all to see the world!

Well thats the plan someday, but funds run tight with me, I'm glad to sitck my foot in the door for this one though: http://www.frequentflyer.com.au/community/playground/around-world-usd-1500-00-a-22599.html

I know I have a QF & J or higher only policy (upgrades of course) but if I could see that much of the world like that, I'm sure it could let it slide a tiny bit

Funds are tight here too, but I think I’d rather go somewhere I want to go to than the cheapest RTW possible. Could be fun… if I had anytime lounge access :p

These sorts of topics are always interesting.
I'm involved in a motorcycle forum that has members from very young to very old. All have something to contribute, and each learn from each other. My perspective is, if someone is prepared to teach me something new... I'll listen and learn.

Think its called 'experience' or something, to remind one to never undertake in something like this more than once
