I read a lot.

I read at home, on planes, trains and other forms of public transport and it has led me to have a complete collection of Terry Pratchett (yes, complete) in hard and soft covers as well as eBooks, not to mention shelves of other authors...

I have tried to decide my favourite author, but couldn't, so I have my most read author followed by 4 others whom I read frequently as well as purchase all their books. Funny enough, they are all main stream.

1. Douglas Adams - I have read all 6 books of the hitchhikers trilogy so many times I quote passages in normal conversation

2. Vince Flynn
3. Andy McNab
4. Terry Pratchett
5. Clive Cussler

I have most works in both paper and eBook form now, so iPaddy is bulging at the seams with books - never a dull moment once the seat belt light goes off :)

Who are your top 5?

1. Patricia Cornwell
2. J.K.
3. Can't remember the author's name - the Temperance Brennan/Bones series
4. Linda Fairstein
5. Kathryn Fox
Cheeky #6. James Paterson - Women's Murder Club series

I tend to like murder/forensics/anthropology books. All eBooks after the great flood of '09 took out over 400 books in my library.

My husband. He has written several business books. I probably prefer fiction though.

For travel - on my ebook :
1. Not politically correct but - Jeffrey Archer
2. Bryce Courtenay
3. Peter Carey
4. And an American - James D Best

1. Martin Amis
2. Ian McEwan
3. Julian Barnes
4. Tim Winton
5. Peter Carey

Three poms and two Aussies.

What ho it's PG Wodehouse for me.

I do like to read biographies and having just finished reading Eric Sykes' autobiography I am currently reading John Le Mesurier's biography. (Leslie Phillips and Terry-Thomas lined up!)

I must say that Neal Stephenson just missed my top 5. "Reamde" is one of the better books I've read in recent years.

John Grisham
Larry McMurtry
Anaïs Nin
John Birmingham
Cynthia Harrod-Eagles

Iain Banks - the fiction books rather than the sci-fi
Kerry Grenwood - Melbourne mystery writer, Phryne is great but love the historical element as well
Sara Douglass - loved the Axis trilogy
Minette Walters
Elizabeth George

Love mystery/crime fiction and also a bit of fantasy (grew up on Eddings and Feist). I am trying to read some of the classics - trying being the operative word!

Gone from voracious childhood reader to just occasional now - more's the pity! I must have at least 20 unread books waiting for my attention.

I have a fairly eclectic taste (fiction, non-fiction, biographies etc.) but as far as authors go, not many particular faves. In no particular order:

Stephen King
Bill Bryson
John Le Carre
Frederick Forsyth

...and recently Justin Cronin (currently reading book 2 of his 'The Passage' trilogy).

For me, Jane Austen will always be No. 1.

I am also a mystery and crime fiction fan, so there are plenty of writers on that list. A special mention goes to Christopher Fowler and his Bryant & May detective series. Fowler provides a unique view of London - one of my favourite places to visit. :-)

For me its

Steve Berry
John Birmingham
Jim Butcher
Clive Cussler

I recently finished Birminghams third book in the Without Warning and After America series Angels of Vengence. Seems to me a fourth is required, we never did find out what caused the wave, I believe there is more to come. The Caitlin Character Comando Barbie, is such a great character.

Berry's Cotton Malone books have been great but I wonder if he has taken them about as far as they can go now.

I recently bought the lastest offering from Butcher Cold Days, the 14th book in the Dresden Files series and as good as the books are, go listen to them on audio books read by James Masters (the actor) he brings them to life.

Cussler well I like every series he has co written, in particular the Oregan Series, would make a brilliant TV Series or series of movies but Clive himself gets in the way of that happening until he dies, he interfears with the process to much.

Huge book fan with about 3000 or so

Love Biographies and True Crime/Thrillers

Fav authors
Patricia Cornwell
Louise Bagshawe
J Randy Taraborrelli
Mike McIntyre
James Patterson

All time favourite (from childhood, for those of you from my generation) is Judy Blume, along with the entire Sweet Valley series of which I have 600 of them. LOL

600? I didn't even know there were that many. I'm impressed. :-) I went through a phase of devouring Sweet Dreams books back in the day. Do you remember those?

Yep Sweet Valley Twins, High, University, Jnr High,...
I had a few Sweet Dreams and Dolly Fiction of which I threw out when I moved at one stage

I also have about 20 books waiting to be read. Big change from often having upto 3 books on the go at any one time.

Hitchhikers guide is great, have also read one or 2 other of Adams books. But a big sci-fi reading back in the day. I enjoyed a post apocalyptic USA series of books involving living underground, wagon trains and mutants on the surface. Can't remember the author. Also found what must be the sci-fi equavalent of sweet valley high in a servo half way between bunbury and capel. I had at least 20 of them with the highest numbered about 60-something.

Andy mcnab. Have read his books, apparently bravo 20 is required reading on what not to do in some quarters. I read a number of his story books but no more, I hate that everyone except the main character has to die. I take that as a reflection of his hang ups post gulf war 1. I liked what he did with Heat.

Notable books I've failed to finish are war and peace and the decline and fall of the roman empire. But I did get through Last of the Mohicans.

I only read one author as the majority of my reading is Comics.

Books - Terry Pratchett

Comics - Alan Grant, Grant Morrison, Neil Gaiman, John Byrne, Geoff Johns...
