Hi everyone,

Without knowing the in's and out's of VA and SQ programs I was wondering who I should credit my Virgin Business flights too, VA or SQ?

I am Silver VA and Gold KrisFlyer.

Any advantages or disadvantages we either.

Thanks in advance.

Depends if you fly mostly domestic or international. If domestic and status benefits are important to you then I'd do VA. Otherwise maintaining a gold membership with Krisflyer is very useful for international travel on any of the *Alliance member flights. And yes, status on VA does give you reciprocal rights to a number of international members of *Alliance as well as others. I think it will come down to who you would want to fly with in the future.

Seeing that you already have Gold Krisflyer, if you can get to Gold velocity then you've got them both covered! Then you just have to maintain both! :)

Just wondering how does having QF platinum get into the mix for VA/SQ status credits

Thanks for the reply. Also QF Platinum so benefits are SQ for me.

Cheers.
A notable point - if crediting VA Marketed & VA Operated sectors to SQ, you'll only get mileage to spend. No Elite status miles for SQ Krisflyer.

Has to be SQ-marketed/VA-operated.

I'd be crediting VA - well, that's what I do anyway, despite flying SQ regularly, as well as VA domestically. I also fly other airlines eg ANA, QR and HA, which all help me towards VA WP requal each year - quite easily because of the range of airlines available and also the status credits from Flybuys (up to 120 p.a.). And VA WP then gives you reciprocal benefits on all of those airlines. Win win.

also the status credits from Flybuys (up to 120 p.a.

Is that still a thing as I don't see any flybuys status credits being posted in my account offlate. May be I will have to dig into my transactions and see what's going on.

Put in your VFF #, and then, if needed, you can always transfer the VFF points to KF account.
Flying VAd, and the flight being VAd, and you having your VFF # in the booking, they can't deny you the VFF points and VFF SC.
With putting in your KF # into the VAd booking, there is a very slight chance the claim might be declined, for what ever reason.
Its the words "code share" that irks me, in the VA and SQ agreement, wish they were in a full alliance.
OffT: I once flew VAd, thought it would be good to get some SQ KF miles from it, after I flew, the claim got declined, I didn't make a fuss, but it wasn't a code share flight.
Maybe the class I flew (discY) didn't exist within KF.OnT.
Now, when I fly VAd, I just put in my VFF #, and then transfer points to KF, as I did to get enough points for a Vrooms booking.
If I plan to fly SQ next time, I would put in my KF #, earn points in that, and then transfer the points to VFF, whose points don't expire, if you continue to have activity.
KF miles have a life of 3 years tho.

Once consideration: SQ miles expire after 3 years, VA don't provided you have some account activity (which is easy).

Mostly I transfer credit card miles to VA even though I get a lower conversion rate to my final destination at SQ for that factor,

I'd start a new posting but I feel that my question is very similar.

I tend to fly to the US but as VA no longer flies this route I feel that I'm not getting value in the reward points that the journey generates. The last paid for journey was with SQ so I earned points with Krisflyer. I'm currently Velocity Platinum but as I have been out of Australia a lot this yeatr I haven't flown enough sectors to maintain even gold status. I have 3 flights coming up but 2 of those are a couple of days after my review date. So. I may have the status credit for gold, but not the eligible sectors.
The question, is it better to collect Velocity or Krisflyer credits, given that Velocity points don't expire?

Put it to KF, then transfer any unused points to VFF.
Granted you will need 5000 points min in one program, and then loose 35%.
Its the sectors that is a disadvantage for Aussies living overseas, esp if partners dont carry the VA code/where VA dont fly its own planes.
Disadvantage with KF, is miles live for 3 years only, non extendable (except due to covid) but if you cant do sectors, slowly you drop off the VFF status ladder, might as well gain a bit by getting VFF points via KF even if its a long hard slog!

You'll have a soft landing to VA SG this year, so perhaps concentrate on getting the 4 sectors to retain Gold in your next status year instead?
