Hello All,

Hoping someone can clear this up for me, or if they have had this happen to them, provide some advice...?

In November last year for the first time ever, I attained gold status with Qantas. My membership year has just ended (July 31st) at which time I expected to drop down a tier having not flown enough on their metal.

Upon logging into the Qantas app this morning, it appears that I have gold for another year. I checked the Qantas website and its says the same.

Most of my flying this year has been to VA (due to my employers policy of selecting the cheapest fare at time of booking) which has allowed me to retain SG with them until August 2018.

I have some coast to coast travel coming up, which I'll switch to Qantas if i know this is going to stick...

any thoughts..?

QF gives you a few days or so for flights to post (e.g. partner airline flights near the end of your membership year). I suspect in a day or two you'll probably drop back to PS.

As far as I recall, when you qualify for a new level you get the new status for the remainder of your membership year plus the following year. So if you qualified in Nov 2016 and your membership year ends in July, your status should be valid until 31 July 2018. A quick check of your QF Frequent Flyer card should confirm this.

This is correct.

This would be the correct answer for the situation described.

Ah oops. Should have read the post more closely.

If status didn't last till the end of your following membership year there would be little incentive to obtain it at the end of your membership year. There are other reasons as well.

I bet a lot of people get their hopes up when they say they've 'retained' status, only for it to drop back down a few days later.
