Why are all QR AMM-DOH flights showing only First & Economy buckets?

I am in the process of planning a DONE5 and one sector is AMM-DOH.

QR shows no D availability any of its aircraft (B777, A333) flying that route, at any time I choose.

Hmm, that looks very odd. Sure enough, Seat Guru shows those aircraft are configured only Business/Economy.

Jump on ExpertFlyer. The plot thickens. Any random time over the next year shows no availability in any Business fare bucket. They are simply not listed. But it shows plenty of availability in each of three First buckets (F, P, A) and in the multitude of whY buckets.

Does anyone have any idea of what is going on here .

RJ is, of course, the other option but an Embraer 175, even in D, is not as appealing as a B777 in D ;).)

It's like US airlines - Qatar calls their short/medium haul business class 'First' so what you see is in fact business/economy but the business is branded as first

QR does not have business class within the middle east. As with most AA domestic flights, they have 2 class F and Y flights. For oneworld products, such as the DONE5 you're planning, QR flights within the middle east provide the same upgrade to A rules as the AA domestic 2 class flights.

Thanks, folks.

They show 'no upgrades available' on the date I want :(. Looks like it will be RJ on the E75. Fortunately it's the shortest flight on my itinerary.

Does anyone think that it will be worth phoning QR in MEL when I'm ready to book in about three weeks to see if they will release an A seat? Or is it likely to be too complicated seeing that I'll be booking through the OW Explorer tool that will link to QF?

My understanding is that it would be up to QR to release an "A" seat, so perhaps you could try contacting them. I doubt they would be able to do anything though.

Are you connecting in DOH? QR uses MSC so you need to search in pairs. If you can give me the full routing before/after that part of your trip I can take a look.

J on the E-75 is actually a pretty good seat. Especially the A seat. It is both window and aisle! I quite enjoyed 1A for the really lengthy flight from TLV to AMM. Actually, now I'm wondering if perhaps I was on the E-95. Either way, same config for J.

I intend to stay in DOH a couple of days before heading up to LHR.

What is MSC? Is searching in pairs accommodated by the OW Global Explorer booking engine?

Full routing for the DONE5 is: SYD-DFW-BZE-DFW-SJO-ORD-LAX-xJFK-SCL-FRA-AMM-DOH-xLHR-DEL-HKG-HND-SYD

MSC is married segment control. I'm not sure if the oneworld explorer engine is capable of dealing with MSC yet.

Do you have a date or range of dates for the AMM-DOH? I assume based on your routing you will stopover in DOH.

My plan is to fly AMM-DOH 13 March 2017, then DOH-xLHR-DEL on 15 March.

I just made a dummy AMM-LHR selection in the OW Global Explorer tool.

Selecting AMM-xDOH-LHR still does not book into A on the AMM-DOH sector:

Seats while not wide, have generous recline and very comfortable.
