Why do hotel rooms often have phone next to the toilet?

If you're an big shot type on $10K per day you don't want to be missing the next deal just because you're in the bath room. I've certainly had my head and arm stuck out of the shower taking a call. (I am certainly no big shot either)

For us guys, when standing there it could be a whole new meaning to the term 'trunk' call.

Some people have a lot to say and frankly it's just inconvenient if nature calls and you have to stop your conversation.
A phone in the loo means you can continue your conversation without losing the thread of where you are.
If done correctly, the person on the other side of the phone will never know what's happening :)

Also handy for escaping a chatty person in the other room and you want them to believe that you are still hanging on to their every word.

My Boss has used one of those phones a couple of times when calling me, and there is no mute button on them :evil:

because they can. Why do cars have so many cupholders ;) (disclaimer: I am a fan of multiple cupholders however senseless they seem, you just never know...)

Maybe for privacy from prying eyes and ears, in case one is sharing room. Taking care of business whilst taking care of business.

Like me, your boss must do some of their best thinking while on the can. Sometimes these things just need to be shared.
