Why don't QF and CX get along?

Can u elaborate? Do they prefer any OWE's more than others, apart from top tier CX'ers of course

I have to decide which OWE number to put into my upcoming CX flights in PE, got op upped on the way over with my QF number in but want my AA miles now I'm EXP with them too...

Many of us here get looked after well on CX with OWE. Seems to be a discernible trend

Maybe that's how they see you!! Put in the nicest way possible!
Let's treat the Emerald troublemaker differently to all other Emeralds.

That was my 7th CX flight in economy and first op-up and that was because I was extremely lucky.

Just because a couple of people have had a good run does not mean that CX treat "ALL" Emeralds better. In fact I just had 5 flights on CX and only had a personal greeting on 1 of those flights and most of the flights only had a few in the business cabin.

Having both been founded by Australians, the two airlines have been in competition directly for a long time.

As a matter of interest, who did found CX? Just curious CM

Yes I see your point. However as a population it appears the emeralds do quite well with CX.

you don't believe you have however 1 in 7 op up onY is a good deal. How many do you get on QF?

my grand pappy lived to 95 smoking and drinking all the way.......

Has anyone ever thought that the reason both CX & QF don't co-operate on each other's services is because they have a monopoly on Australian-HKG flights? Besides CX & QF, the only other competitor offering direct flights is VS' own HKG-SYD service. If both CX & QF co-ordinate flights, pricing etc.. the consumer would be disadvantaged leading to fare increase, the ACCC would simply not let that happen!

CX hardly get on with anyone.

Well CX & VN use to be pretty cosy with each other on HKG-Vietnam flights, you could earn and burn miles on each of the carrier's FFP's. Then VN decided to join SkyTeam, and there went the FF benefits. They still code-share on each other's flights though - Don't know why VN's joining of SkyTeam affected this?

I wonder how much of this is cultural though? I have no firm idea, but its making me ponder that in Asia elites or persons perceived to be bigger spenders seem to get pretty good service overall, not just with airlines (big generalisation I know).

most attitudes are cultural. An elite in Asia is more important in relative terms to those in Aus

lets not forget how successful an airline CX is. Profits are down at present but they have produced some decent returns in previous periods.

Yes like CNS/HKG/CNS flights are usually pretty full, must say other than J, Y & PE prices competitively now.

In J its around $7k return for a 7 hour flight!, simply outrageous, but go further on CX in J like CNS/HKG/BKK/HKG/CNS its around $5K no idea why.

Also, very few award seats show up on QFF site.

Not sure I see that one as an op-up even though I have included that in the stats. I had 39F (middle seat reassigned from 30C bulkhead and not first time I have had seating issues on CX) and persevered with trying to get economy bulkhead aisle and was given seat in premium economy bulkhead aisle.

- Just ask munitalP if he is happy with CX treatment he received in BKK regarding seating as currently reported in his trip report.
- Just ask extracta if he was happy travelling with a Oneworld Emerald in business and missed the last flight of the night HKG-BKK due to CX delays and were given seats on last flight of the next night where first flight in morning, and all other flights through the day, had more than ample availability and also wanted to put 2 males (unrelated, separate itineraries) together in one hotel room due to delays

I don't mind travelling CX as an airline but I do not think they go out of their way especially for Oneworld Emeralds. Most of my flights are OK and uneventful though and I will continue to fly them.

Well yes, but to get to BKK still have to change planes in HKG yet its over $2K cheaper return to CNS, beats me.

We go to HKG at least once per year from CNS, service has been excellent, new seats will add to it, have done both Y & J in previous trips, been opted up Y to J twice, had service manager come ask me if we needed anything like glass of wine in Y, been given full row of middle seats in Y, excellent all round. Looking forward to next trip in J. Now have PE too about $2200 return.

And you can beat it as well.

Book your ticket through to BKK with the cheaper airfare and fly HKG-BKK in morning and BKK-HKG in afternoon and have a stopover in HKG for the remainder of your trip.

Have done CNS/HKG/BKK/HKG/CNS, wife loves shopping in BKK spent few days there, stopped in HKG for 4 days then back to CNS all direct.

I guess of its only HK people want, better to fly to fly via BKK cause its over 2 grand in J cheaper.
