Why get bottled water in hotels?

Do you realise how much CO2 you have created by posting that? :p

Ah now if I believed the whole "CO2 is the root of all evil and cause of global warming" movement then that might make me even more guilty!!:p

Not saying I'm a saint, I just do my best in my day to day life :)

To be honest, unless it's realllly bad (I'm looking at you Mt Isa) I really don't taste the difference between most tap waters.

Have you been to Adelaide by per lucky chance?

Cape Grim is the place!!!!

Yes, ADL is probably a close second behind ISA in awful tasting water! Luckily there's much better things to drink in the ADL region ;)

I actually get annoyed if the hotels don't offer compliementary bottled water.

It's just like any other consumer good. There's always a cheap alternative available, but people are afforded the choice to go down the luxury route if they choose to.

The complimentary bottled water I have seen at hotels hardly qualifies as 'luxury' to me.

The only time I drink bottled water is when i want the water cold.....otherwise its tap water for me. Except of course in select regions of the world where clean water is a scarcity.

I prefer to drink the bottled water - to hydrate myself before sleep and then taking with me on my days' appointments where I bring it out and drink it during interviews and walking between them.

I appreciate the fact they supply it and I've paid for it as part of my nightly cost.

I generally won't pay for bottled still water.

If I get it complementarily then that's fine.

I keep a bottle, empty, full or in-between with me most of the time.

With aerodrome security where LAGS rules exist I go through empty and fill up at the most appropriate water browser.

Posted on a wing and a prayer ...

If in a place where water quality is OK, I may drink the bottled water if it's free, but depending on the city, I usually prefer the taste of tap water to many bottled waters (ADL being a notable exception), and happy to fill some glasses from the tap and put them in the fridge to cool them down before drinking. Funny story, had some visitors staying with us (in Singapore) and I didn't know, but they were specifically drinking bottled water that we had in the fridge, due to general concerns about water quality in Asia. On about Day 3 I realised this and explained that we just refill bottles from the tap and put them in the fridge to keep them cool, so they were drinking tap water all along! All in the mind really.
