Departing a port looking at a bunch of massive apartment blocks isn't going to inspire wild, reckless abandon.

It's just quiet reflection. I daresay if you could take photos of people on a plane taking off from the airport, many would look very similar.

We sailed on the Marco Polo when she was the Aleksandr Pushkin.

I sailed from HKG down Vietnam's east coast on Marco Polo, up the river into Saigon and then to BKK. Really enjoyed it.

I saw the Marco Polo again in the Caribbean last year - I think it was the day we were in Barbados.

I've never been on a cruise where bingo was compulsory, thank goodness

I saw the Marco Polo again in the Caribbean last year - I think it was the day we were in Barbados.

But she didn't have a Russian crew then did she.Oh those Russians.
One example,our family had the whole table.The waitress came around and asked what we would like to drink.Our son aged 14 said coke.The waitress replied "You will have orange juice".
"No I want coke."
:"You will have orange juice."
In the end he had orange juice.

Carnival. Also on my banned list. Or Duck-it as JessT would say. Geez, security staff got into it. I'd be asking for refund if my kids got caught up in that,

A couple of thoughts.

If the women stopped yelling and screaming and walking in and out of the fight, it might not have been as ugly or over sooner.

The staff trying to stop filming, to the point of assaulting someone is disgusting and the staff kicking a guy in the head, while hes lying down, is shocking. I dont think anything prepared the international staff for a bunch of hairy bogans and their banshee women'folk.

Seems that everyone involved has given Bali a miss and by the accents - I can only imagine the posturing that happened before hand, all those butt hurt male feelings over someone looking at them or their cousin the wrong way.

Aside from what the passengers were doing - the actions of the crew are astounding. Violent assault. Cover-ups. Illegal seizing of private property. Deletion of evidence.

Just a normal cruise from what I can see. It was less than 10 days ago that another major fight was reported:

Isnt there some sort of law about taking random photos identifying people and then making money showing/selling the photos? The photographer sounds creepy, these peoples privacy is being invaded.

Does he also take photos of people in his neighbours apartment blocks? I guess not, because that would result the police being called.

A definite reason not to fly Jetstar International to Asia

Interesting to see what look very much like passport photos in that newspaper story. The men are in Indonesian police custody.

Pubs, footy matches, entertainment venues, car races, restaurants, live concerts

All of the above have cattle class, (some even have pens), but all have options and choice.
The only real choice on a lcc or a cattle ship is to smile and enjoy the experience.

Have only ever taken a Costa cruise before around the Mediterranean. Similar demographic I think to the bargain South Pacific ones in the news now but most of the pax were from Italy (although without the flourish behavior).

Was ok - not amazing, in all I'd prefer to take the train in Europe but I can see the attraction for retirees. Food was pretty dire and drinks of course were subjext to gauging.
