Hi VFF

Lately, a few of us have noticed that the upstairs part of the Sydney lounge is always closed, making downstairs that little bit more full and difficult to find some space.

Is there any particular reason it's closed and any timeframe for its reopening?

It was open one day last week in the early morning -- and then was closed "for a function," I was told.

Closed the other day I tried to visit last week

It's positively serene compared to downstairs.

Out of the past 6 or 7 lounge visits the upstairs is always closed, one can only guess thats its to cut costs, not great for the flagship lounge in my opinion

Maybe Virgin is planning a local J lounge for their WPs? ;)

That would be nice, but I wouldn't hold my breath. From what I have heard, they only open it up when down stairs is busting at the seams.

upstairs is closed on Mondays / when the lounge is quiet. they do it because it costs money to have people up there serving food etc when there's heaps of room downstairs.
Brissy overflow lounge is the same.
