Why no refund Virgin?

What are the circumstances?

Assuming that you are entitled to the refund and have been acknowledged as such, that is very poor (pun intended). Maybe PM Virgin Australia and see if they can expedite the process for you.

I cancelled 2 return J award tickets , Got the points refunded but not the co-payment. According to their `system' in finance I've only paid $600 whilst reservations and my itinerary shows $800. They can't tell me which CC I've used and can't find my cc statements as I think I used my now cancelled plat charge and can no longer access my statements!

I told them a virgin issued receipt for payment would be suffice, But finance has pretty much said we will only refund you $600.

I might try the PM route.

Re: Upcoming: Travel Bank

Well, if the OP is that aggrieved, it's an option. Never said anything about easy, let alone plausible.

Just stating fact instead of letting you ramble away

It's actually very easy to do a chargeback (some banks even do it over the phone).

It would be fraudulent to do so in given the circumstances though (where the OP would be breaching a legal contract they entered in to with VA).

No it's not actually!

It's a ton of paperwork and the CBA makes it almost too hard, well I did give up over $100 for an item never delivered from an on-line merchant.

They wanted copies of all emails to be sent into them via post and it was all too hard!

Whilst the contractual provisions are paramount in this case, for anyone interested google the Commissioner of Taxation vs Qantas GST litigation which ended up in the High Court. The question was what is the 'supply' in relation to air travel in the context of GST on forfeited fares under the contractual terms? Majority ruled 'a promise to use its best endeavours to carry the passenger and baggage.' interesting to note one Justice dissented, saying the supply is the flight itself. So I can understand why some people have the view that they get nothing until the service is actually delivered - they have one Justice of the High Court on their side!

That is interesting. Not that it really matters went the customer cancels supply of the service.

I did a chargeback on Citi and Westpac within the past 18 months. Both over the phone. Sent out paperwork, signed and sent back. Charges were reversed.

CBA must just give people pain (I know they did me, that's why I dropped them 15 years ago!).

Re: Upcoming: Travel Bank

Travel insurance, depending on the level of cover, may cover the entire amount providing a medical certificate can be furnished. The OP is angry because they didn't understand what they were entering into, and didn't read things. I don't think a laugh is appropriate, but the OP needs to read our advice with a rational mind, so hopefully they've cooled off a little when they come back :)

Well it was either a laugh or just getting ticked off at him for ignoring in ignorance the rest of your helpful advice... Angry or not - Don't know why he thought he could vent and still be angry at us as a Community! Bleh

The question too is IF he'll come back! :? Anyway....

Chargeback: With CBA, it was fairly painless from memory to do it over the phone... Having said that, the wallet was stolen, and the late night transactions/continuous declined attempts on the card helped when getting the $100~ back....
My circumstance I guess is different from trying to get a good/service chargeback - But just thought I'd throw in my 2c. Don't write off CBA too quickly... They have given an extra bonus 10k in Award Points 0_o

Re: Upcoming: Travel Bank

As to the OP, I had to CXL a rtn flt due to illness, I had insurance etc... but VA cxl flt, gave a credit shell and then rebooked flt's without any hesitation or fare difference charges as I had provided a doctors letter ref: my illness. Even the agents comments that they hoped I was fully recovered were a nice touch. But I guess if you want to go around in life "YELLING" at people you get what you give.....nothing!
