Why Oh Why

Bit off topic but you know what's really cool about you two is that you are BOTH interested in flying and scoring deals from points etc. I am trying to get the other half excited and to know deals - he loves lounges over sitting in terminals but it's a bit of work trying to get him involved (Somewhat understandable if you don't fly often!) I think he's learning though - I flew EK TT yesterday and took a pic and sent it to him and he text back saying something about "you're not in business class". One part of me was impressed he could recognize that from a pic and the other part of me text back saying he was a punk!:p:lol: Anyway, I'm still working on him with my witchy ways!:)

Anyway, keep it coming! Look forward to the next trip!

I think it has to be in baby steps. MrP was the same. And about cruises. But from the tips here I got him to WP after failing to requalify a couple of years ago. He travel A LOT for work so having the status helps a little. Then bit by bit I amassed enough points to start flying J a few times. We got unexpected upgrades. Went on a fabulous Med cruise after him refusing to go on one after an awful one 30 years earlier. Now he loves cruises (particular ones, not all of them) and even takes photos of ships he sees when he is in NZ and Sydney. It has taken a few years but he is pretty much onboard now (see what I did there :p)

I'm trying to think about how I can convince the other half about buying points. But I think he'll be open to nesting, he does like a nice hotel.

Strange AFF isn't letting me reply to 2 posts in one.

But yeah it's a bit of work and I thought - who wouldn't want to fly J??? But he's Scottish so is like ... Y is ok it's cheaper etc so I'm trying to find the best Y for trips!! But when I find deals where J is only a teency bit more he's in:). He's tall so I hate seeing him cramped. But TomKat - meh, it doesn't seem like they take much convincing!;) I'm only guessing but they both fly a fair bit so it makes it easier to convert to an addict, I mean ... avid flyer:p.

Haha addict

I only started travelling overseas in 2007, then did my first big trip to the US in 2009. Hated longhaul Y. Long legs, super uncomfortable. So the next time I went in 2011 I found AFF and found out how to get better seats. Flying J/F has only been a recent thing, something we both plan a long time for. Otherwise we are still Y flyers, we just make sure we get the good seats. The lounges and the priority boarding etc make it much more bearable (as do the odd J champers and amenity kits that occassionally come our way). Xmas 2015 we flew J to NZ becuase it was cheaper than Y! No one can fault that logic.

I told other half he was joining SPG and I was going to buy under his name - better than the deal I got buying points earlier in the year! Of course I'm going to charge him to some degree when we take our first flight on SQ suites back to NZ. Problem is I don't know when that will be! Our general big overseas trip is this yr and we've already paid for it. I signed him up for HH also in case there was a good deal.

His only complaint is he gets more emails now! Ugh! He has no idea!

I know I need to probably go to one of these social thingy ma jigs to vent my frustrations but anyway, it's really cool to see a combo couple where it's not so much work to enjoy the perks of flying. I feel a bit deceptive in my ways to some degree!

I was amused that one of the FAs offered to hang my hoodie; I was more than happy to stuff it in an overhead after two days of it floating around on plane floors.

As it was a refreshment flight there were a couple of light meal options. Goats cheese tart. Banana bread with blueberries. Or fruit salad. I opted for tart, and a cuppa.

The flight was pretty uneventful. I couldn't find anything to watch on the IFE has I had watched most of it over the preceding 12 flights so we just chilled out. And then before we knew it we were back in Melbourne. Luggage came out amongst the first few bags despite the lack of priority tags and we were off home.
