Why do we call QF "Red Roo" when the roo is white?

A look at Retro Roo II (VH-VXQ) will show that it wasn't always white.
Indeed, a Google search of the Kangaroo symbols show both red on white and white on red logos throughout the QF history:

The 1947 and the 1968 versions are red on white, but the original in 1944 was white on red.

So is it more a chameleon roo?
No, because it only has two colours - whereas a chameleon has many![]()
Are you assuming we've seen them all? Maybe more to come ...![]()
