Will my wife get Gold if I hit 1500 SC's?

BTW i could be wrong about this but that is as i understand it from my rather extensive discussions with VA about this in the earlier thread - both online and offline. I guess i will find out for sure when my number clocks to 1500 - which shouldn't be too far away. Has anyone else got there yet?

I'll ring VA about it this morning.

I talked to two operators at VA this morning for over 25 minutes, often on hold while they consulted with supervisors to get a definitive answer. It seems unclear even after the call, but the indication is it applies from the day Platinum status is acheived. The bombshell is that family pooling SC's may not go towards spouse complimentary status but she will have to consult with management to get confirm the exact policy, and this will take 24 hours. I will get a call-back tomorrow.

I do wonder if they will close that loophole at some point - eg. by saying that you can't change your family pooling structure more than once a year or something like that.

Without knowing what you asked, we obviously can't comment about it really, but personally I think we sometimes over-scrutinise each and every word uttered and premise assumed. Family pooling has nothing to do with spouse complementary status but it achieves a similar outcome. Really, I can't see DJ being too bothered, let's face it, they're prepared to give away status on the back of their FFers so what's the issue? They already have a disincentive built in either deliberately or accidentally.....that being the 100% platinum points bonus. Depending upon your partners status, that could be a reasonably large loss of points. Also, it doesn't apply to everyone. It's just the few (OK I've no numbers so perhaps more than a few) that can achieve plat, requal for plat and have extra that would normally go to waste that's enough to get your partner to gold, but not enough to reach 1500. Between 200SCs and 700SCs depending on how many points your partner has earned off their own back (or other family pooled members). Honestly, it'd become so complex, it'd be a nightmare if they try to regulate it and for what real benefit? A few free lounge visits and some priority service.

And let's not even go near the possibility of some future life time status scheme.......if that was to become real (and they do keep LT records), it'd change the whole landscape.....now, time for another beer. My head hurts!
