Will QF make an award seat available (for a WP) in this situation?

Hi all,

I've had QF open up 2 x Y seats LAX-SYD when there was zero award availability (on any route) 10 days either side of the date we wanted (which saved a lot of trouble!), but I'm wondering if they do it domestically too?

I'd like to use points for 2 x J seats on QF81 SYD-ADL in Jan. There's J award availability, but only for one seat it seems (when I search for 2 adults, J isn't offered).

I'm not ready to book yet so I don't want to call QFF, but when I do, is there a chance they'll release another J seat into the award inventory?

(Other option is to put my gf in the pointy end and for me to travel in Y...she hasn't been in J before so it'd be a treat :)).

Cheers,
- Febs.

If there's high D or I class available at the time then you have more chance.

Hmm, SeatCounter doesn't seem to show QF81 SYD-ADL...only the domestic flights at the time. Looking at 30th Jan...would anyone be able to check for me?

Cheers, much appreciated!

QF81 only flies on Tue/Thu/Sat. Jan 30th is a Friday. QF timetable available here: Plan - Timetable - Search Qantas Timetable

Cheers

Well that would be why! I meant 31st. Thanks. Thanks too serfty.

Edit: Still doesn't show it. I've tried both "morning" and "afternoon"...
Edit 2: D9 according to Flightstats.com. I use that website all the time but never knew it did availability too!

Cheers,
- Febs.

I would say a decent chance, i have asked for J award before domestic and managed to get it. Also that flight is probably not so popular so i guess as soon as your ready ring.

Interesting i was waitlisted on some CX flights and really sold out one... so i ring CX and ask if there is any chance they will clear, and they said no... 5 minutes later they cleared !
I think somebody at CX was being nice to a QF WP :) nice of them i think.

Currently showing:
J9 C9 D9 I9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 O9 X9 E0 with 4 seats allocated.

I was on the flight once on a Saturday in J (en route to Singapore). It was reasonably full in J, but still a few spare seats. Almost totally full ADL-SIN, so they must pick up a few extras in ADL, meaning there is always the chance of getting a seat SYD-ADL.

I'd ring and ask - I think your chances would be relatively good.

Yes, yes they will. :D

Thumbs up to Qantas. They even put a note in the booking saying not to call the other passenger (my girlfriend), as it's a surprise (the J seat, not the flight). I'm leaving it off her QFF profile for now too. :)

Cheers,

Good result Febs, ableit a domestic J seat I'm sure she will be happy in any case ;)

Yeah, wouldn't have bothered spending the extra points for a domestic J seat....but for a Skybed (given she's unlikely to experience one anytime soon) I figured why not. F lounge + Skybed...she's going to wish the flight was longer than 2hrs! :D

Why don't you continue on to SIN? ;)

I dunno - you could become the next Kiwiflyer prodigy?

lol...
A long way to go before that would be the case. ISTR he travelled ATW in 2½ days with a like-minded companion on an AirNZ 2 for 1 deal.

Which i thought was completely crazy, you think you would atleast stop to sample a few cities :) hehehe

I am all for indirect route's and lots of long flights but i do try to make it to places i have never been before, like Vancouver, Mexico and Istanbul.
I like travel for travels sake but Kiwiflyer took it to a new level
India will probably make it onto my next xONEx as long as the prices stay reasonable.

Anyway back on topic.... nah who wants that ! Enjoy the Flounges Febs.
