Will TK (Turkish Airlines) ever fly to PER, MEL or elsewhere in Oz?

There is only one European airline left flying in to Australia
Which one is that?
...

The Turkish diaspora generally live on the east coast - Sydney and Melbourne
MEL-IST would be same as PER-LHR
To do such a route, they would need to reduce their passenger payload on the 787/A350
Currently the TK 787-9 carries approx 70 passengers more than the QF 787-9
None of their current route is longer than approx SYD-LAX
And they dont have PE

My wife tells me, after a 2017 trip to Istanbul … you don’t want to be female & travelling alone in Turkey. She didn’t necessarily feel threatened, any more than an irrelevant piece of rubbish might feel threatened; men would just push her out of the way, for example, if she were in a queue for something, or about to walk through a doorway.
I'm a mature aged male 190cm and been pushed put of the way by an elderly female in Shanghai and and elderly male in Marrakesh (both of which were quite rude about it).

Neither of those would deter me from travel.

It’s an old post but I feel the need to counterpoint- I never ever experienced anything as described as a single/solo youngish female traveling in Turkey. I would have absolutely zero hesitation travelling there again in the same configuration. I can’t answer what I do differently that results in this situation

I have been to Turkiye many times since I was a young (female) backpacker up to middle age and never had disrespectful treatment by anyone in Turkiye. Maybe a few taxi drivers trying to overcharge me but even that has disappeared since I learned to speak a little Turkish.

These new routes look very promising for my UA miles as I can use VA to SYD/MEL and then take the TK flight!

I'm hoping this doesn't mean the end of their $4.5k mixed class fares to Europe...

Whereas I’d prefer not to travel to a place where the culture is terrible & everyone is rude. You can’t go there without supporting the local economy, and I’d prefer to support an economy in a place where everybody isn’t disgusting.

It’s a large part of why I have zero interest in visiting the UAE / Saudi Arabia. Or Russia. I guess it’s not those people’s fault that they were raised in a dud culture, but there are plenty of good places to go instead.

TK current fares in J from south east Asia (MNL, BKK, SIN, KUL, CGK) one stop to pretty much anywhere in Europe are usually around AUD4K.

If they do start this service from MEL as a two stop way to get to Europe (MEL-SIN-IST-xx_) it’ll be interesting to see if they will apply the Australia tax and pitch fares at $10K, or whether they’ll have to pitch it cheaper due to the two stops versus SEA or Mid-East based airlines offering one stop.

I wish they would go via CGK instead. Or KUL or even BKK. As they stated, SIN to Australia has so many options already.

And instead of going head-to-head with another Star Alliance partner...

KUL might be hard with Air Asia to fight the lower end with. Malaysian is hardly competition to right home about though.

Thailand might be interesting. There is plenty of European traffic to & from. Just for giggles - what about coughet?

TK is not a budget airline but they would attract lots of Aussie travellers who want to connect to Africa or even South America on Star Alliance and have a stopover in wonderful Istanbul! I may be a bit prejudiced as Istanbul is my favourite big city in the world but lots of people agree.

I’d love to see them go through CGK instead of SIN to add another option for me but I’m sure SIN makes more sense financially for TK
