We were visiting the area for the Neil Diamond concert. As many would know, most of the accommodation outlets in the Hunter have a minimum 2 night stay at the time of major concerts.
We only required a 1 night stay and through booking.com we were able to book Windarra Lodge with the option of cancelling up until the day prior to our stay. This is no luxury spot but we found it suited our purposes and provided a very comfortable stay.
We booked one of the 4 standard doubles and picked up the key from the cellar door of the nearby Harkham Wines-about a 1 minute drive.
The interiors have recently been refurbished. There was a very comfortable queen bed, the room was very clean, the linen in good condition, air conditioning or ceiling fan, a good bar fridge, some basic tea/coffee supplies and a toaster & jug. There is enough hanging space for a short stay and a lounge seat for comfort. The newish bathroom had a shower that had plenty of pressure & plenty of hot water-the shower taps wee upside down to what we are used to!
Outside there are spacious grounds with broad views of the quiet surrounds. There is a nice deck with a near new BBQ and 2 outdoor settings of a table & 4 chairs-this is a short distance away so the noise doesn’t carry to the rooms.
We used the separately provided bus service to get to the concert. This was an excellent service that picked up & dropped off at the front gate & allowed us to avoid the parking problems that arise when 17,000 people descend onto the concert arena.

Overall for our purposes, a comfortable, good value stay

That looks perfectly acceptable accommodation. What was the freight?
