Hey all,

My requal date is June 12th and I currently have 45 SCs and have 520 SCs of travel booked (some domestic VA but mostly Etihad J) in the next 8-9 weeks.

I'm traveling with my partner who currently has point pooling turned on. She currently has 10 SCs.

I'm trying to figure out the most efficient use of pooling for the SCs. Ideally I'd like to requal WP and get my partner to Gold, although this may not be possible.

If I turn off pooling after I almost requal then I'll end up with 805 and she'll end up with 270 (Silver). If I pool them all to me I'll end up with 1065, 145 short of reaching the 1200 required to gift gold.

I'm guessing that Velocity are fairly hard and fast with the dates? (if I don't react 1200 before June 12th no go on companion gift?)

If so, does anyone have any advice? I was thnking of the VA money 150 SC offer, but I'm not sure that'll come trough on time even if I applied today and booked a flight as soon as the card comes... :/

If you are definitely not going to reach the Partner Gold threshold, I would pool. She will still have the opportunity to reach Gold from Silver using them over the next year because of the rolling counting scheme.
Meanwhile she will have 2 lounge visits if not with you and the points bonus

SoRry to burst your bubble but I think it's 1300 to gift Gold. It's actually better to which pooling over once you hit Plat if your intended is already gold 800+ 400 re qualify vs 800+ 500 companion.

Gifting only seems to make sense for me if the recipient won't have enough sectors

D'oh oh yea, I forgot about that!

Well I guess breaking then reversing the pooling might make sense... don't want to run the risk of loosing WP though next year if I'm close.... might have to settle for Silver...
