Re: Woeful Virgin Australia Velocity FF [Customer] Service in comparison with Qantas

Notwithstanding some excellent points made upthread...

the OPs beef seems to be that they are a frequent VA traveller, spending a fair sum on VA and the status doesn't befit their spend/frequency of brand engagement.

Argue the finer points of the program but the OP feels dissatisfied, and VFF correspondence didn't help.

So a question for the gurus, what is a reasonable spend to achieve SG / WP tiers ? $15,000 - $25,000 ?

SG = 500 SC, 10 SC for $55 so that's under 3K, double for WP

Re: Woeful Virgin Australia Velocity FF [Customer] Service in comparison with Qantas

The point is simple, I have been a Gold VA ff for many years. Last year I still flew on average twice a month Syd-Mel. Many of those flights were redeemed with VA ff points, including a business class from DFW on VA. I was downgraded to Silver as a result, because many of my flights last year were non-revenue, and additionally I have the equivalent of Gold/Platinum with EY through my flights to Europe in Business (fully paid) but none of this was taken into consideration in my downgrade despite me writing to them and additionally their responsiveness to my emails was abysmal (time wise).
I am currently elite gold with EY and plat with Virgin. I expect to loose Ey elite gold in March as I have only 75000 status miles. I cannot expect them to give me EG. Again based on my plat VA status. I made. A choice to put many flts WITH VA.
screwing my chance for EG.
I CHOSE VA for the seat 3 deal.and the dab customer service when I fohave a problem.

At $15,000, Platinum would be well and truly achievable, and then some.

Someone who just flies longhaul Business or First, particularly at standard rack fares, may spend a lot more to get the same status. For example, at about $7k return for BNE/LAX in Business (direct), two of them is enough to qualify for Gold, but four are required (actually three and a tiny little bit) to get Platinum.

I'd hate to do 100 x 10SC sectors for WP...

Oh, wait, I do over 100 short dom sectors a yeah...

$55 is pretty good, my sectors average $250-350 (but are normally flexi).
