Woolworths gift card thread

Think these will work for Canberra payments, as the Only1 visa was no longer accepted.

Ah yes, I missed the part about "Everywhere" . I still havea fair bit of Perfect GC from the deal early this year. But will probably get some for Canberra

Agree

If past experience holds true, you will get 1105 points so -$0.425 per card

With conversion of WW to QF points now very viable the value proposition changes of course

I bought both cards in two transactions, each card yields exact 1000 points. It looks no more extra bit of points like before.

I do not think I will buy more and I suggest no one should buy them, especially only1. The due date is Mar 2023 for most printed ones, which means if by Mar 2020, there are still large stocks not sold, we could get a much better deal, due to minimum 3 year valid in NSW.

Did anyone else jump in today on the only1vias offer?

If so, did your find an unexpectedly large crediting of points and and larger than the 1106 that some have received in past offers?

My account has what appears to be a standard disclaimer that bonus points will take three days, so I can’t yet be sure if I’m slightly ahead, or massively behind.

Are my calculations correct? I am trying to figure out if it is worth it for me
Buying 2x $100 Only1 visa cards (for 2000 woolworths points)would net me;
1000 qantas FF (if redeeming Qantas using the bonus points from woolies)
318 amex FF (Krisflyer,asiamiles)

Fees involved;
$11.90 Only1 visa fees
$3 DEFT fees for paying off $200 (DEFT fees for visa is 1.5%)

Cost per point
1000 qantas for $10 = 1 cent per point
$3.90 for amex 318 FF = 1.22 cents per point

The maths looks okay to me.

As usual YMMV in terms of how you value QF and KF points.

Surely you are getting 635 or 636 Amex points as you are getting two cards.

By my calcs you should be taking $11.90 and dividing by 1318 (assuming total QF points earned) so .9 cents per point.

You are foregoing the points you would have earned if you had used your normal Visa card. That should probably be taken into account.

Looks fine to me.

And given I have about $12K to spend to meet the minimum for some new credit cards I have, I'm tempted to buy a few.

Never thought about it that way, was actually considering just paying using a fee free method if not using the only1 visas

I guess based on my example, if I used my qantas money mastercard on a $200 DEFT spend

$3 for 202 QFF = 1.5cents per point

Fees involved for only1
$11.90 Only1 visa fees
$3 DEFT fees for paying off $200 (DEFT fees for visa is 1.5%)

Cost per point
1000 qantas for $10 = 1 cent per point

I use the only1 visas to pay council rates which don't earn points on any of the credit cards I hold. For council rates the payment by debit card (what these are classed as) is fee free or .3%.

I’m now reasonably confident these bonus points are not posting correctly.

I bought 10 in one transaction.

Under the terms of the offer I expect 10,000 WWR points.

My account showed 2,000 point very soon after the transaction and now nothing for two days.

If they were points for the base spend that some people have reported receiving in the past I would have expected the number to be 1059pts.

The website says bonus points will credit within three days, so it might happen tomorrow. But my level of confidence is low.

Yesterday I purchased 10 over 2 transactions, 5 per transaction. Each receipt said 5,000 points earned. Points posted overnight.
I did not get the additional points related to purchase cost.

I looked up the catalogue and noticed it said "earn" 1000 points per card.
I think similar deals in the past used to state "bonus" points.

Interesting, thanks.

I’m still 8,000 points short then.

And if they’re no longer classed as bonus points, I guess I don’t need to wait to chase them up..

An update on this and a bit of a warning:

Of the ten I bought on Wednesday, eight had the new tab & warning on the back that the checkout operator has to remove to access the bar code. Two were of the old style where the bar code was visible through a cut out portion of the cardboard.

This morning I purchased ten (in two lots of five) and all were the old style with the bar code already exposed. For both transaction the 5000 bonus points appears on the bottom of the docket (though yet to hit my account).

So beware the new style cards and perhaps keep it to five cards per transaction.

Yes, problems with new ones at Coles last week. Staff member read and followed instructions, tried about 20 of them but none would activate. All new stock were removed from sale.

Hope yours work out.
