Woolworths gift card thread

With the new wish gift card email format. You can click the link and it will auto load into your woolworths app. Very handy

If you buy say 5+cards they send you an excel sheet with the links. These are not click able. You have to cut and paste into browser to open

As for in store use use the short version at the terminal plus pin. For everything else online you need to use the full 19 digits or so.
The gift cards all seem to be starting with 62800055500

For some reason I keep having trouble getting the emails after purchasing. I get the order confirmation but nothing after that until I chase it up. Any tips?

I tried a couple of different emails so to avoid them ending up in spam etc is there an easier way?

As mentioned above, the links if you buy more than 5 do not work. I had 12 x $500. After a phone hook up with the very kindly Colin, we had it more or less sorted out. I won't go into all the further stuffing about, but in the end I just wrote down all the numbers and went straight down to Big W and collected up all the only1 and went to the last cashier standing as I didn't realise it, but they were closing. Anyway, the manager put through about $5000 worth. Best to do it in lots under $1000 so they don't ask for the name and address (if over $1000).

The benefit of living in a friendly city like CBR. Thank you all those who valiantly helped me.

I doubt they'd stop it as I imagine they still make a profit out of eWish cards, even at 5% off. As with most gift cards, a lot of the profit is made by people not redeeming the card or the full amount. All it takes is one customer out of twenty to forget to redeem an eWish card and the 5% discount is recovered.

Obviously though everyone on this forum always ensures that every cent of value is extracted from their gift cards.

I use the Woolworths Money app on my phone. Store all my gift cards and their loyalty cards which keeps both card balances and point totals up to date.

Never need to worry about losing value off a card again

I never realised you could add the reward card to this app. Very handy.

I use the Stocard app for loyalty cards generally, but having the balance, pending WW$ and fuel discounts to hand is good.

My links are not clickable. This whole thing is not to be recommended. Very sorry I didn't start just ordering one small card. Not sure what to do next as it's getting too complicated for me.

For multiple cards I open the excel sheet they send on my laptop and copy/paste the links (which appear as just text strings) into a new email. Once in the email press <enter> at the end of each text string and it becomes a hyperlink. Then send the email to myself and click/open each link on phone so it can be picked up by th WW Money app. Sounds complicated but takes 2-3 mins from start to finish and all egift cards are in the app. Hope this can help someone

Tried to use the only1 cards today with no success. Apple wanted a 4 digit pin and Target couldn't make it work. What have I missed?

I've never used it for an in store transaction - only online. My understanding is that the store should get you to sign to authorize the transaction. Although signing has almost completely been eliminated for some years, it is still possible (I occasionally need to sign when using my US MC).

Ok thanks. Perhaps we should post here any shop names that still have facilities for signatures.

To use only1 visacards instore, just sign the back panel.
when you swipe on the eftpos terminal, it will say signature required or if it even asks you for pin just press enter straight away but the "enter pin" has never shown for me.

They will print out the signature paper thing like how it was before paypass and you just have to sign.

I've used it at chemist warehouse and some other small restaurants / takeway places that don't take amex with no problems.
You should have no issues at all using this card anywhere..

Can't see how there is any problems using the visa1 cards as they are essentially no different to your consumer credit card

They don't have a pin number, some staff think you can't accept it without a pin number, and some systems may not allow purchases without a pin number

there should be no issue using them, but as always, depends on the operator

Any store with EFTPOS facility should be able to accept them (at least that has been my experience using US CC cards here): even the shiniest new terminals won't prompt for a PIN and print a docket with a placeholder for signature.

Having said that, I always alert the person operating the terminal that they should expect the system to prompt for signature. I have never had a single case of transaction being declined by the operator.

Apple can't do signatures. Not sure what happened at Target. But mine have all been expended on tax now - took me sessions over 3 days.

On the off chance it's of interest to anyone - Woolworths Town Hall Sydney has 20+ of the CNY $88 eftpos (not CC) cards.

Maffs as follows: (($88+$5.95 [activation]) * 0.95 [wishcards via NRMA] ) - $88 = $1.26 for 267 Amex points (or just under 1/2 c ea.)

I used the last lot at the dentist, vet and flight centre with no problems.

I'd buy them but I'm on the way to the airport for my first F experience on tonights QR909 SYD-DOH :-)

Or you can instead buy the $100 Eftpos Cards with the same $5.95 fee and get more bang for buck.
