Not necessarily. I’ve used that strategy at times to get correct placement of known letters.

A lot also depends on your approach and goal. Are you aiming to get the lowest possible score by only making attempts that could succeed, or are you aiming to ensure success eventually by building information to avoid having to guess for last letters, and potentially not getting it out.

I tend to the conservative, so don't have many low scores - but get it out.....
