That is quite an interesting method.
Starter words in use. My first two starters cover all the vowels and another 5 very common letters. If there is no likely direction from that, I have another word that is 5 totally different letters to the first 10. After that, I have covered off 15 of the 26 letters - so not many others left to use. Between the hits and the eliminations, it can end up being a quick finalisation.

Almost exactly the same process I use!
My third word (if needed) comes from the list of 5 letter words without a vowel, such as psych, crypt and hymns. I try to tailor it to whatever common consonant I’ve found from the first two words.
