Worldmate being discontinued ... Alternatives?

Do you know if you can just email your bookings for this or does it only work by accessing your email account ? ( I've got so much old stuff , it'd be a nightmare if that was the only way)
I have a separate Gmail account that I forward confirmations to. I have tripit pointed at that address

Not aware that Google has an email.
I pull the VCal feed from TripIt into my Google Calendar, although as I use Gmail as well I do get some duplicates
Excuse my ignorance but what is a Vcal feed please?

It's an open-source calendar format that you can use to pull a different calendar into Outlook, Google Calendar etc

Sad days. It's never good to see a business close down, especially one which has been operating for so long.

It does raise a number of questions like - are they fully extracting the value of the service, and are synergies being realised across the multiple businesses which Carlson Wagonlit operates.

IT does not identify missed bookings eg "Missing Accomodation : x nighst" ie you think you have sequenced your bookings and it highlights where you have not, or how many more nights you need to address.

Noticed in the most recent Android app update (and on the web version) it now notifies you if you're missing hotel accommodation for some nights. In the web version its a little easy to miss at the top of the trip. In the app version it is hard to miss at the top of the trip.

Thanks Daver6, can't see that on my IPhone version unfortunately, but I'll check out the web. I did ask Tripit and Tripcase if that might be a feature to be included but both said while they agreed it would be useful, had no plans for this in the near future.
I was debating to get the latest Worldmate as it was working just fine but mindful of the limited life, I thought I'd best do it ( thinking it may have something special with regard to archiving - I was very upset to now see that function ie missing accommodation days, was no longer working. Not impressed but then again, I'm now not the target audience, so tough luck...

Is there potentially an pending update to be installed on your phone for the iPhone version?

The developers might also just be waiting for app store approval from Apple which usually takes about a week. No such with with Google Play. It literally came out about three days ago on Android. Fingers crossed for you.

Ah! good point Daver6, I have been hanging off upgrading to the latest IOS because of the issue with the home button. So perhaps all is not lost if Apple sort that out so I can then upgrade. Thanks for your posts

I use tripit (supported version but not pro). It does the sequenced day view in the Web interface, which is where I tend to do manual editing anyway. Seems to do a good job of providing an electronic itinerary to me.
With flight updates I find google automatically sends alerts for gate changes quite well. It is usually even quicker than the Qantas app for domestic flights. No idea on how or why it knows I'm on those flights but it works well.

do a search of an airport you'll be flying out and google will highlight your next flight.

i use the google now launcher and it seems to let google show you more info that normal.

scares me how much google knows about my plans, but i suppose i like the convenience.

I noticed this pop up as an alert on the iPhone app today

I do a similar thing. And you're right, its scary what google tracks sometimes.

e.g. did a search for a particular hotel recently, only because a friend had been there recently and praised it. One search, I have had dozens of reviews, prices, deals, etc.. in the last 2 weeks since then.

(you can set google to limit this, I believe)

Been using Worldmate, but trying TripIt now. It seems to struggle a lot more with nested itineraries (eg I have a MEL-SIN-MEL ticket spanning Oct-April, and just puts every ex-SIN return flight into that trip) and I couldn't work out how to split tickets across separate trips (other than manually entering details, which rather defeats the point). Might see if TripCase is any better.

Setting up blank trips with the correct dates first can help. And there's a "Move" option if it doesn't.

Came across an app called TravelerBuddy (American spelling, not me!) which I think appears to have come about as a replacement to Worldmate. Looks pretty good but I have committed my upcoming trip to Tripit so cant give a "hands on" review. Thought it may be of interest though

There's a setting to put all new itineraries into "unfiled items".

From there you can place the segments to their correct trip.
