I've noticed that a few people have already booked international trips for 2022.

What resources are people using to find out the current entry, transit, testing and quarantine requirements for each country? Is there a website that shows all this?

hi it is really hard to find out. I was booked for Easter, but changed to July for a few reasons. It was hard to get information from the dfat website or smart traveller in any detail but I thought I had worked it out. I moved flights back on the basis things would be easier to navigate, and the EU has brought in an EU-wide certificate (with some local rules applying).

However I recently found out that a sticking point is that I am double vaccinated with AstraZenica. However while AstraZenica manufactured elsewhere is an acceptable vaccine for EU covid certificate (proof of being vaccinated) purposes, I understand that Australian produced AstraZenica is not recognised so I would be treated as unvaccinated (in which case allot of extra restrictions would apply on entry/staying in each country).

The links on the dfat website are not always useful and do not explain this, assuming I've understood the position correctly.

Another problem is that dfat (smartraveller) has just indicated that for Norway, 'Australia’s digital COVID-19 certificate is not accepted as valid for entering Norway. If you don't have a valid digital COVID-19 certificate, you must follow the same rules for unvaccinated travellers. '

I can't find out when Australia will finish negotiating to be recognised as other non-EU countries have for entry and mutual recognition to obtain EU digital certificates).

Does anyone know the answer please.

It is tiresome that after all the fanfare about Australia’s world-leading design of an International Covid Vaccination Certificate (ICVC), complete with a QR code based on ICAO VDS, the document isn’t recognised as valid in more countries for the moment.

It’s reasonable to think DFAT will deliver on Norwegian recognition of the ICVC before you go, but for earlier travel to Norway I agree you could come at the problem indirectly by trying to obtain the EU Digital Covid Certificate (DCC). I can’t vouch for the validity of the advice but this link has suggestions about how to do it as an Australian not resident in the EU or EEA: How To Get The EU Covid Pass | Flight Hacks.

On your other point about Norwegian and EU recognition of Australian AZ, are you certain there’s a problem? The Norwegian list of recognised vaccines includes ‘AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria)’ which is exactly what appears on the Australian ICVC; and the EMA list of authorised vaccines includes AZ/Vaxzevria. My understanding is that the Australian-produced AZ brand name was changed to Vaxzevria specifically to enable international recognition of the same formula manufactured under several names in different countries (source: Name change to Vaxzevria from COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca).

many thanks - my international certificate says AstraZeneca Vaxzevria so I will follow that up, I know of someone who was treated as unvaccinated on arrival in Belgium recently who had AZ but the links you sent will really help me follow up. Also as you say it;s reasonable to think DFAT will resolve anything fairly quickly. I appreciate your help. And thank you I have found the forums very interesting

hi thanks again for you advice; I used AA miles to book a JAL/Finnair flight from Melbourne to Zurich in business class and will start off in Switzerland so now have a Swiss certificate, which I can update later with any further boosters. I had a pfizer booster on Monday, though, and applied after that was shown on my AU certificate on Tuesday, so the vaccine that is recorded on the Swiss certificate is comernity which also helps. Thank you for that advice, it was very helpful indeed.

Have a trip planned to America and Canada next week.
America should be fine but just saw that Canada could be gearing up to lockdown their borders again. I don't know what to do... So over COVID!!! every time I have booked something the past 3 times there's been an outbreak and everything just closes up.

Supposed to be flying to Canada 31st Dec - 9th Jan for some snow time. Would you go or cancel everything??

Canada issued a travel advisory to its citizens Wednesday asking that they avoid all nonessential international travel as the Omicron variant spreads throughout the world.

They've also made it mandatory to supply a 14day quarantine plan incase you get tested for positive when you land. My thoughts on this was to book something refundable. Since we have to get tested before going on a flight, the result would tell us to take the flight or not

Are your arrangements flexible? If Canada proves too difficult you could spend more time in the US? There are lots of US options for snow.

Keeping across all the testing, vaccinating, quarantine requirements and paperwork is a significant mission and I'm worried to mess it up as its fairly complicated. Is there a service - such as maybe offered by a travel agent or similar - that I can pay for who will organise all this for me (and bonus possibly be able to keep up to date to let me know if requirements change during my trip)?

I know if a trip is booked via a TA they can help with this, but my trip booking is self managed as significant portions are award redemptions. I just need help managing the complex entry requirements.

I wonder how it would work? How would a service monitor hundreds/thousands of itineraries in case one changed? What if they got it wrong? What recourse would the passenger have against the service? The insurance premium for the company to cover liability could make the cost unreasonable. And the need for 24 hour worldwide monitoring?

I've heard that Viking have cancelled their Danube River (in/ex Bucharest) cruises and maybe others by Viking, presumably due to the Ukraine invasion .
