Worse than feet on bulkheads

3E....more like a red or not a VFFer who turned up late and was given 3E so the damn plane could get in the air quicker!

Not sure on that... the flight was pretty full and I counted minimum 30 premium pax lining up when they called the flight. (That really surprised me) because it was a flight just after lunch mid week and I thought I was being smart by booking my wife into 3A and me into 3C. (hoping for a shadow) As it turned out that didn't happen and although we could have swapped with the guy I thought I would let him suffer. Sorry but this is a little OT. It sort of backfired a bit as the bloke had 3 cabin bags and as he got on the plane first there was no room for my bag overhead. (another pet peeve of mine - won't go there) my bag ended up in row 5. This then peeved off people once we arrived in SYD as I held my ground blocking the isle until I could get my bag. Most people are good but there was one chap in row 4 that didn't like to wait. He asked what was I waiting for and I replied... airlines to start enforcing cabin baggage rules. ( I think I lost him with that statement) Sorry end of rant...

I hate that "book A and C and hope for an empty B" little trick that people try to play and I always enjoy watching it fail, although it does sometimes make for an entertaining game of Reunite the Couple. Sounds as though at least two-thirds of that section of the row were trying to outdo each other in the DYKWIA stakes.

Very similar thread occurring on the FlyerTalk BA forum, including tales of toenail clipping in the lounge. Hope you've all had your lunch by now.

.....I am surprised the FA didn't tell her to put her foot down and I wonder what their policy is for dealing with issues like this. I followed her off the plane and she was not limping.

May be genuine and interesting point about, if genuine, how to keep an injury elevated and what the cabin crew can and cannot do.

Maybe I am cynical, but with no limp observed by Bolthead - all I see is a $5 bandage and a cheap garranteed upgrade to Row 3 , much easiest way to get Row 3 than go to all the bother of actually flying places to earn status and then hanging out on the online checkin all night to get that Row 3 seat. Just rock up at check-in and help yourself to some other saps shadow!

I did a good job ignoring my wife...

I was on QF Mel - Syd, 1E.
Before talk off, The platinum one last next to me had her foot on bulkhead ( hiking boots ), and as the FA walked past, she asked her to remove her foot, which the lady immediately did, saying sorry.
The couple in IJ & 1K, were travelling with a baby.
Shortly after FA had asked the Lady, in 1D to remove her foot, the lady in 1k also had her feet on bulkhead.
Same FA walking through asked her to remove her feet. This couple were then so rude to the FA, demanding she stop what she was doing immediately and get them a pillow ( she was doing safety demonstration at that point) they went on to say, " don't you know how to do your job? " " what's your problem ? " etc etc. the FA was visibly shocked by how they were speaking to her, and I saw her then go and speak to the CSM.
The offenders were then very nice to all other staff on flight, but they were both glaring and shaking their heads to the first FA, who I noticed had changed sides and served the other aisle.
Upon landing I spoke with CSM to confirm their rude behaviour to the FA.
CSM was planning on writing a report.
I noticed on their BP that they were gold and silver FF......
A very sad episode of the way staff are treated at times.

TQ

This raises an interesting issue. We all know that the FAs have to be polite to passengers even when their being unreasonable and obnoxious. So would a passenger ever stand up for the FA and tell the unpleasant passengers what everyone really thinks of them?
I know in the public health care system we have a bit of a grin when another patient tells off an unpleasant patient when we have to just cop unpleasant behaviour. The dare say that the friendlier patient probably ends up be slightly better care too. :) I dare say that a pax who stands up for a FA might too (and rightly so).

Good on you for talking to the CSM about it.

Enjoyed a selection of feet in the lounge and on board earlier this week. Not on bulkheads, but other places they really shouldn't be.

Sat for a while near a man in one of the pay lounges at Singapore, Ambassador T2, with his feet on the table. Wearing stubbies and an "Australia" t shirt. Shortly afterwards in the Skyview Lounge T1 (long tranist, did some lounge-hopping to fill in time) saw a different grub coughing all over a pile of plates near the buffet. Eventually made my way to the SQ Silverkris lounge in T3 and wished I hadn't wasted time in the others.

Later, after boarding the A380 back to Sydney, was enjoying my welcome drink in J. Put it down for a moment only to see my neighbour's bare foot hovering just over it as he got comfortable. Why it needed to be waving around I don't know, let alone near my drink.

I would never intervene in a discussion between staff and a customer but would speak to the CSM later and tell them what I observed.
Indeed I have done this on a flight when a pax I was sitting next to became verbally abusive to the FA about his seat allocation. This was in 2008(?) and the pax was in a middle seat on a totally full plane so nowhere to go.

I sat between them and later on the CSM asked me to go with her to the front of the plane and tell her what happened. I was able to confirm that the FA was the victim of verbal abuse and had been totally professional in her dealings with the pax. The CSM thanked me asked if I would be a witness if required, of course and she took my details. I never heard anything more but do hope the pax was properly castigated.

Today's flight, Ms 3F

But then I got a 2-for with Mr 3E

Then Ms 3F needed to scratch in between her toes and the magazines, emergency exit card and leather pocket was the trick and she scratch and scratched for about 20mins.

And lastly, no photo, he spent some time cuddling while she picked through his hair like a monkey looking for nits.

Went to the movies yesterday morning to see The Water Diviner.... in the row i sat there were 4 people with their feet up on the seat in front.

Average age of the movie goers was 40+

Note.... don't pull out your phone and take a photo ...with out turning off your flash. I got some strange looks went my flash went off....

Ha. Somewhere there is a movie forum and people are coughing about people using their phones and someone is posting, there was this guy at the movies taking photos! :)

Not everyone are blessed with attractive toes and in 1A this morning (CNS-BNE) a lady anywhere between 50 and 150 years old (hard to determine with all that spak-filler) had her monstrosities wrapped around the magazine and safety card in the bulkhead pocket. I pity the poor sod who next picks up that magazine to read. No decorum, no breeding, no manners, no shame. Revolting!

.

If you were the CSM (and not just a fellow pax), would you use the authority to say 'please' to these peasants ?

I'd probably would even if the manual does not have such an item.

Just basic common sense and courtesy of sharing public spaces, not to mention anything else !
