You know none of that is new, don't you? The timings are obvious - minimise cash spend until the CEO retires, maximising profit and all the goodies that flow from that.
I just don't see Uncle Alan retiring anytime soon. He's in his 50s arguably at the prime of his career as an airline executive. During his tenure you has kept both customers and shareholders happy. The only thing I could see Uncle Alan doing is leaving QF for a bigger fish like his native IAG.

Like I said ... minimise cash spend until the CEO retires ....

c 2027. New Qantas Group CEO announces that the ADL QP refurbishment and new business lounge will "start soon, but we'll have to have a capital raising first, as Mr Joyce's farewell has left us a bit skint. We apologise to our customers if our Adelaide lounge is a little below the standard of our Sydney business lounge in the meantime.".

HEL will freeze over when that happens, which I reckon will be quite some time due to recent trends from global warming.

I predict a 2030 departure for Uncle Alan, if not later than that. I know some folks will think this is too long, but realize he's been the CEO of QF for quite some time and given his age I quite frankly can't see him running away unless another more lucrative airline position becomes available for him.
Do you really think it's appropriate to leak images from the proposed renovation of the HBA Qantas lounge?

Its quite obviously a current photo of the HBA lounge, not a mock up.
The ample seating space along with furniture that doesn't appear to be sourced from the bargain bin of an OfficeWorks leads me to believe this cannot be the case!

I decided to take a shower at the Qantas domestic Business lounge today and didn't realize the showers got this bad:

If this is the best Qantas has to offer (at least domestically) at Sydney, I quite frankly don't want to know what's worse!

Looks cleaner than my gym…. There is actually a national cleaner shortage.

Yeah it's pretty dire. I'll be coming back into Australia via Sydney in early Feb. My plan is to try have a shower in the SYD international PP arrival lounge before heading across to the domestic terminal. It can't be worse.

I haven't had a chance to try that lounge yet as all of my arrivals have occurred outside their operating hours:
0600-1800 daily

PP has no conditioner (just shampoo and shower gel), no face washers (just bath mat and towel), and no other amenities (dental kit etc). Not sure what Qantas has these days in the domestic showers, but I can at least see conditioner in the pic above!

Bath mat and towel is all you get in the QF dom J lounge. I think you might be able to get dental kits from either the front desk or elsewhere though. I usually have the dental kit from the flight to use.

Perth! It's a laugh really. When did they "enhance" away orange juice even? Nothing but watered excuse of apple juice. Cheap baked beans and sausages that well are hard and cold. Scrambled egg all powdery. Cheap sliced bread. It's actually quite pathetic as a business lounge.

Being new ( then) you’d jolly well hope so! I’d like to see it in six months, and in the morning after a couple of A380s have landed.
Yeah but how many metric 747s (A380s) land in Sydney everyday?

Possibly more than you might think. QF have at least 2 SQ 1, OZ is doing some 380 runs right now I'm pretty sure, EK has 2 iirc, QR 1.

At any rate in the mornings as referenced, you have QF2/12 and EK all arriving in that early bank - or scheduled to anyway so there's enough there. SQ may also be in that early bank.

OK it's not SIN or DXB, but there's definitely a number of movements.

Just spend some.time.innthe QF lounge domestic lounge at MEL.bwhat can I say I really liked it and it seemed better than the last time I was there. The Tangine was tasty, the soup ok...the noodle bar working fine and the staff were attentive. It was clean and so were the showers. So well done to all concerned! A pleasant experience with fish tacos and ice cream being made available on walk around from staff (I assume this is standard). Nice stay.

I am just in the Qantas Club Lounge in Sydney - interestingly not busy at all. Not busy at all to the extent that lounge staff came to my table asking me whether I want a coffee/water/orange juice, incl. bringing it to me. Again, Qantas Club Lounge in Sydney, not Qantas Dom Business Lounge in Sydney. Very happy this morning!

I just got bumped into the QF domestic business lounge. SG travelling in discount Y. Scanned ticket at the club and got told to go to the business lounge. Can’t complain but would like to know why. My morning flight was cancelled. Is it a QF apology?
