Would you 'raw dog' a flight?

I would but knowing the high chance of some moron thinking it’s cool and normal to listen to a podcast / music / game on loudspeaker, I know I need my NC headphones on me at all times these days.

You make it sound like an awful existence not worth living … but I think there are people who crave that attention & for them it’s worth not having any skills or abilities or consistency just to see how many views they get.

Not a chance.
I’ve been on long haul where I’ve slept the majority of a flight and not eaten anything but zero chance of flying Y long haul in the first place

What's the opposite of "raw dogging"
Because I've done that (often) 🤣

Well, I had to google that a couple of times to get the correct context 😳.

No. In the same way that I wouldn’t spend an entire flight doing headstands in the ailsle .
Had to look it up as well! That’s what seasoned flyers have done for years, especially with the help of inflight beverages.

😂Am enjoying these responses, thank you to everyone for sharing your thoughts! 👏

Whilst I like to make the most of my opportunity relish the flying experience often, I can see why people would do it as well. Social media attention seeking aside, flying time is a great opportunity to meditate and find peace in the hecticness that often characterises our flying and modern lives in general.

i fly to UK and Sweden a few times a year and i actually do this, before it had a name and was all over tiktok. the flight map is all i need.

considering the question to create this thread is “would you?”, i’m loving the judgemental responses thinking they’re on the moral high ground

If someone wants to do it, I have no problem with it. Each to their own.
I'm not going to go "wow" or even give a "like" to any posts which someone claims they have done so, especially if that person only did it for the social media time.

As far as obnoxious social media crazes go, I can live with a few people saying "look at moi, I'm sitting here doing absolutely nothing". It's certainly better than some of the other "challenges" of recent times..

I have an international trip coming up in 4 weeks - might have to raw dog it and see.

I have raw-dogged a few domestic/short hop internationals - did one recently CMB-MAA, VNS-MAA and a handful of CBR-MEL/SYDs, but never long haul international. I simple gaze at the flight map or close my eyes, but I'm awake ... the eye mask & NC headphones helps to focus on the nothing-ness.

Absolutely not. I'm a conscientious consumer of SQ's alcohol in First. My wife was once asked if they should continue to serve me when the bottle count started to concern them. Happily, they did.
