B788 B-2761 on the overnight MF807 from FOC to SYD is likely to arrive 39 minutes late at 0954 on Friday 19 May 2017. As the returning MF808 is not timetabled to depart until 1115 hours, it should be able, touch wood, to depart on or extremely close to time. This flight only operates thrice weekly and is one of a growing number of a relatively new 'city pairs' between hitherto unserved mainland Chinese cities and east coast Australia, with SYD followed by MEL as the most popular destinations for these mainland Chinese airlines.
MF803 from XMN down to MEL (B-2768) is estimated to arrive at 1106, 111 minutes tardy. The return flight MF804 is scheduled to depart at 1120 so expect it to be at least an hour late in pushing back. This is only a twice weekly flight.
It would be interesting to know what percentage of travellers on board MF and similar airlines were Australian. One would suggest it would be quite low - five to 10 per cent - but depending on the relative attractiveness of fares and connections offered to Europe or elsewhere in Asia, it could be growing.
A problem for these smaller mainland Chinese carriers may be lack of awareness among Australians that they are even a travel option, but low fares on third party websites may help with that.
