I'd be keen of something involving Sydney or Brisbane, or no matter how unlikely Adelaide (just putting it out there).

In Sydney we will actually be using two airports for the days of joyflights - the first will be at Wollongong Airport, where we are being hosted by HARS, and the second will be from Bankstown Airport. In Melbourne we will be using Essendon.

One thing to bear in mind when coming up with ideas for charters is that the aircraft will need to return to her departure point after the charter, whether that be with or without passengers. So, for example, if you flew Sydney to Essendon, the aircraft would return to Sydney, even if she needed to ferry empty... :-|

Probably the best idea for a charter would be a daytrip somewhere. So, out of Sydney we could fly out to Mudgee for a winery tour for the day, or out of Essendon we could fly to King Island for lunch - they're just two of many options.

You'll find a group charter to be very cost effective, as cost calculations vary depending on the flight - chartering the aircraft for yourselves will end up being cheaper than buying 60 individual seats.

So, where would you like to go? ;)

I don't disagree about the cost effectiveness, it's the getting 60 participants!

Would suggest prepayments, too. As those who bail at the last minute will still be liable for ensuring the bill is paid...

Hi ladies and gents,

We're now finally taking bookings for flights on the DC-6B for her tour!

We do need to put in the caveat that the tour is subject to final regulatory approval – the DC-6B is about to start 8 weeks of maintenance work to tune and tighten everything up for her trip to Australia, and this will generate some certificates of inspection that CASA need to sight before physically issuing the piece of paper. However we are able to take bookings and start confirming things and getting them in place for the tour – there’s less than three months to go!

Forms are available for both the intercity flights and the joyflights on the website, yesteryearaviation.com.au, and the schedule for the flights is also available.

Those who had registered their interest for flights previously were sent the forms yesterday, and already we have a number of confirmed bookings from this.

Any problems or queries please let us know, otherwise, look forward to seeing you on board!

And we'd still love to have a look at taking a group of you on board for your private charter! :p

This is looking really really interesting. Anyone else interested in the MEB-ADL or MEB-HBA flights?

Intercity Flights

I'm looking at either one. although I think the MEL-HBA one isn't happening now. I received an email the other week about some flight changes.

I think I'll book the SYD-CBR flight....

Not yet sure how to get to Bankstown (fly to SYD - taxi?) but it can't be too difficult!

Be a nice Friday off work!!

Cab it from East Hills after grabbing the train from the airport, which goes to East Hills! (I used to work in BK tower).

thanks for that.. that is the one I am looking at too.. :D

Me too, but with finances strapped thanks to frequent travel in the last 3 months of this year, and Christmas, I'm just hoping it doesn't sell out before I have a chance to book in January.

What's the chances of them reserving a seat with CC and charging in Jan? ;)

Have you considered applying for the Woolworths Everyday Rewards Credit Card and claiming 16,000 bonus points, plus using it to pay for this, then simply cancelling it afterwards?

samh004, the money to repay the card has to come from somewhere...

I’m not completely clueless on credit cards, but I thought the card was 55-days interest free, so assuming he applied today and they acted a lot quicker than most have experienced and the card arrived next week, the purchase wouldn’t accrue interest until the 10th of January, and he said he could pay in January.

Of course, finance and credit cards has never been a strong point, so the quite simple wording of 55 days interest free could mean something completely different to what I am thinking, but it seems fairly simple.

I’m sure I’m about to be told what I thought is completely inaccurate, but I was thinking the right way I’m sure ;)

I have more than enough credit, and if I do apply for the WWEQF card, i'll be canning some of my old ones, moving balances, and not using it as a CC.

notzac speaks truth. I'm in the process of trying to cull my cards to my AEXP and one Master/Visa (and of course my Wizard card only when travelling).

Debt reduction sucks:)

So yeah, my original question stands. I would think they would not be allowed to charge for the flight until they receive necessary approvals, but I may be wrong. Any word from OP?

[OT] No credit card gives you 55 days interest free on all purchases, its UP to 55 days interest free, you would be surprised what difference those two letters make, especially if the purchase is the day before the billing cycle ends. [/OT]
