You know you are a frequent flyer when ...

Back when QF had a set schedule for the types used to/from SIN a couple of years ago, I could go to the SIN viewing mall (land side) and go, this A380 is going to MEL, this 747 is going to SYD, etc, and did all that without looking at the departure boards.

I used to know the flight number, schedule and aircraft type of every Qantas flight in and out of CBR. Still remember a lot of them.

You're on a SYD/BNE flight & during the Captain's welcome onboard PA he mentions "quite a long taxi today" & you immediately say to yourself "okay so it's going to be a RW 34R departure".

Not only do you know the runways but also the taxiways so even with your eyes closed you know you'll be turning left then right then left onto the active runway.

Then after take-off they power back while they maintain 5,000 feet before getting clearance to the next flight level. It's a bit of a weird sensation actually & I can understand how a nervous flyer might think something is not quite right.

I like to think of myself as a seasoned flyer ex BNE but I still get a little nervous when this happens

Copped that a few times ex-HKG. Not good when the wife is squeezing the life out of your hand.

Or 15 minutes out from SYD you know which RW you are headed for by the next turn.

When you watch 'Up In The Air' and you are subconsciously thinking all the way through it ....... 'I could do this better than Ryan Bingham is' ......

Coming back from PER into SYD I like the approach to with a left base turn for RW 34L when you fly over the beaches in the Royal National Park.

Who else gets a buzz of landing at a runway not often used like RW25 in SYD when you fly in over the Eastern Suburbs & the Australian Golf Course.

I was disappointed with that movie as I thought it would be more up beat like a comedy involving someone doing status runs or other bizarre antics in the quest for points not unlike the infamous 'Pudding Guy'.

The script clearly wasn't written by a genuine Avgeek & I'm sure the collective brains trust here could've come up with a far better character.

I think the nature of the movie was depressing because Ryan Bingham's character would travel around the place firing people from companies that were downsizing. The sad this was that the people I the movie talking about their experiences of being retrenched were the real deal - not actors.

Speaking of which, I have never landed on 25. Had 07 a few times, some of which was by necessity as well, but 25 is the only runway that I have not landed on.

Pretty sure I've never used 07 or 16L at SYD. Perhaps I need to get some time up.

I had one departure from 6L at LAX. After takeoff the Captain said it was his first takeoff towards the East in 25 years flying to LAX. You could almost feel the emotion in his voice! :)

Haha, you know you're one when the plane turns right after exiting the domestic terminal aprons at SYD to head north for a 16R departure ...

...

YES!!!!

................you are in the newsagent of gift store in any given airport and you like need a buck or 2 to buy some minor little item so you simply reach into bottom front pouch of your roller bag and scoop out all the coins in there then just hold your hand out so shop attendant can sift through the multi currency coins you have acquired last month or so just to try to deplete your seemingly ever increasing supply of totally useless currency.

You find a handbag for your child to take to take to a school disco. She discovers coins in it, pulls them out, and her first question is "Are these Australian?"

I became much more addicted after joining AFF years ago, the advice and assistance here from members can only be described as brilliant!, and from searching and getting points from wherever I could get them, be it flying or buying, double status was excellent too.

On a recent trip used combination of miles end points to get from OZ to Europe, combining the two for various sectors using QFF & AS was not easy, at the Emirates A380 on board bar I thought be very few here who used points or was it sitting in the Wing lounge with Mrs lime for the 6th time, I'm not sure but hell we like it.
