Re: 2015 in review

In my defense the "quick reply" box is quite small so it's very easy to lose track. The novel is only apparent after you hit enter! I'm on desktop and I can't fit the whole post in unless I shrink it ...
The editor boxes are resizable - other than that you can always click on [Go Advanced] :D

Not so. You do have two options:
1. At bottom right of this reply window is a small icon - three diagonal lines: click and drag to increase size of window.
Or even better, you can......
2. Click the "Go Advanced" button on bottom right of the quick reply box and you will be able to preview your whole message and continue to add/edit it. At the lower right of that Advanced window are two buttons -"Submit Reply" and "Preview Post".

EDIT: beaten to reply by serfty.

Re: 2015 in review

I take any criticism about my passion for golf with a grain of salt. Plus it's usually only people who can't play golf that criticise so not that important.
...

Reminds me of conjecture about playing baseball in my youth... There are a lot of people who wander around attempting to hit the ball, but very few who actually play the game.
Now the game of frequent flying (at least on these pages) may force a similar observation.

JohnK - Enjoy the fresh air and exercise - and the flying

Not wandering?

Yes NZflygirl it is hard to get past the Government line with Vietnamese tour guides. We were very fortunate in Danang and Hue to have a former South Vietnamese pilot as a personal guide. He had been sent to a re-education camp which obviously failed. In Hue he got us to listen to a regular guide to hear the Government line then he gave us his line-he was flying air support for the US when they were retaking the Palace. The clincher was when he explained that according to the Government line and his experience the US attacked across the river. So now just look at the side the majority of damage has been done-definitely not the side facing the river.

Re: 2015 in review

Not a big year of flying by the standards of some, but this year surely had a big highlight for me: first time to fly long haul J class! Finally saved up enough points and blew them all on a J award from China to the US. Well worth the effort.

Re: 2015 in review

sean have you tried *A PEK? It's worserer!

I thought that was the same lounge? CA here being the Air China lounge in PEK T3 international.

When I fly SQ out of PEK, they give me a pass for another independent lounge, which in my opinion is much the same as the CA one. Meh food and drinks, little wow factor at all, no tarmac views, mediocre flight information screens, same PSB organised wifi access from memory, too. Only possible improvement is that it's less crowded. Maybe they should give a meal voucher for Maan Coffee instead if they have finished building it at PEK.....;)

Overall though, the lounges at PEK, as in most of PRChina, are pretty mediocre. Ever suffered through the MU Lounge in T1-2 Dom? Makes the CA T3 Int lounge feel palatial. However, I am impressed by the new(ish) CA lounge in PVG T2 and would be quite happy if they made a copy of it at PEK.

Re: 2015 in review

The *A lounge in PEK also known as BJS lounge is up the stairs beside the glass elevator - dog of a lounge. CA considerably better - CA being member of *A cannot refuse you entry - check in staff will never direct you to CA lounge but you know where to find it.

CA F in PVG T2 quite a nice lounge - they serve Moet and a Bordeaux red - food is cough.

Re: 2015 in review

A bit late on the thread, but slower year than the last few, still 176,000 miles and 121 legs. Nothing too new in places visited, but over the year I have felt a change in attitude with the airlines with even a more growing lack of concern/care for the frequent traveller. The major airlines seem to be moving to the budget airline model with a lack of care and things seem to be all "transactional". And average age of cabin staff in the Majors increase by a year, decrease a year in the budgets........

Yeah, I know that BJS one, that's the one the SQ check in people direct me too. Have tried both and didn't think that they were massively different. Would rather that CA or *A built a proper lounge in PEK, really.

CA F in PVG T2 quite a nice lounge - they serve Moet and a Bordeaux red - food is cough.

Can't speak for the F section (they really don't know who I am! ;)) but in the riff raff section, there was a pretty reasonable and varied buffet that was regularly refreshed the last time I was there. Certianly better than any other lounge I've been in in China.
