My reply might be better placed in the Velocity thread (since it's mostly about Velocity), but since you've kindly put the official notice of all changes in this thread (much appreciated
), I thought I might as well follow on here.
First of all, am I reading it right, or does the NAB Qantas Card (non-gold) now have a better earn rate on Amex than the NAB Qantas Plus (previously Gold and Plat One) if you spend over $3000?
Also, the NAB Qantas Plus has a higher earn rate on the Mastercard compared to the Visa on the NAB Qantas Premium (previously Plat). Seems a little odd, but I guess NAB have their reasons..
The changes to the Velocity section seem to have been slapped together without review. Several things stood out to me:
Velocity NAB Gold Card and Velocity NAB Platinum Card
We’re renaming both of these cardsthe NAB Velocity Premium Card.
You’ll notice some changes to the earn rate your Velocity Rewards Points and introduction of caps.
(I didn't know there was a Velocity Plat - I had heard of others with a Velocity Platinum One, maybe they mean this? Not to mention the missed space and missing words to make sense of the otherwise nonsensical third line, but I'll let them go on that
)
and
We’re improving your Points earn rate when spending on your American Express card. You’ll earn 1.5 Points for every $1 spent on eligible purchases. For example, if you spend $1,000 per statement period on your American Express card, you’ll earn 6,000 more Points per year.
New points earn rates – capped at $100,000 spend per statement cycle
Card | Earn rate per statement cycle |
American Express | 1 point per $1 spent on eligible purchases |
Visa | 0.5 point per $1 spent on eligible purchases |
Old points earn rates – no caps
Card | Earn rate per statement cycle |
American Express | 2 points per $2 spent on eligible purchases |
Visa | 1 point per $2 spent on eligible purchases |
(I'm hoping it's a typo within the table rather than the text!!)
