Your rights when an aircraft is downgraded

I have. My booking was through Amex Travel so I had to go through them. The put in a request to QF but the response came back negative. I actually feel that if I had booked directly, QF likely would have let me swap. However, I'm sure they won't deal with me as I didn't book directly.

Not really a massive deal, was just wondering what rights apply in this situation. I have my answer.
Ahh… yeah. That’s a key issue (problem).

As others of stated worth calling to see if you can change flight.
Other option is you could do a points upgrade to business if you have some spare. However I’m sure you would want the a330 business seat in that case 🙂.

A couple of weeks back I got the dreaded flight at T-24 that my 13:30 A330 flight has been cancelled. Ended up on a 737 a couple of hours earlier but in Row 13 and a spare seat next to me which made a pleasant flight.

I guess it’s easier when a flight is outright cancelled instead of changed as you’ll then get the option of picking a flight that suits.

As others have said, QF have no reason to change the flight for no fee because of the equipment change. If schedule is the same it's just not a reason to do it - and sorry to say this - but specially in Y(yes I know the 1" extra pitch).

Now, a high status pax with a sympathetic agent in HBA *might* get some leeway, but even still. As far as QF is concerned it would be a voluntary change and thus incur a change fee/fare difference-if any situation.

And OK, it was bought through Amex, but I disagree that QF would have changed it if you booked direct.

Yes, it's very frustrating but you didn't purchase a seat from MEL to PER in an A330 specifically. You purchased a Y seat from MEL to PER on the flight scheduled at the scheduled time. All the rest is changeable (of course cabin class changes and schedule changes are different situations).
