QF A380 Y Mini-cabin top deck, rear --- Pics only

Thought I would try and get as many quick shots of the QF A380 upper deck mini cabin economy section.
Just as a reference for those wanting to elect seats in this cabin.

The mini cabin is nice. Having a toilet located there works well with minimal lines. The only real downside I can find is overhead bin space is very limited.

So here goes a cabin load of pics ... probably more than needed, though I was trying to capture as many angles as possible which can be a challenge with a stream of people behind you wanting to enter.

These are the storage bins as best as I could capture

This is above mid cabin 32 / 33 and it is huge. This bin was stuffed to the brim by everyone in the cabin

Above 32 / 33 J & K --- very shallow. This is a smaller bag in it which just fits after a bit of a squish. I would suggest soft sided baggage here.

I know there was a lot of pics. But for those long economy flights, the right seat can make all the difference.
Hope these were of some help.

IMHO 32 AB/JK are the pic where you don't want to shell out more coin and are less than 6 foot-ish tall.

Indeed, it'd have to be the worst seat imaginable. Whilst Economy seating in the A380 has many rows of 3 seats, they are next to the windows. This seat is next to a grey wall. It's 36D if I'm correct. It ought to be sold at a heavily discounted fare, or allocated to the most obnoxious person at check-in.

Indeed, it'd have to be the worst seat imaginable. Whilst Economy seating in the A380 has many rows of 3 seats, they are next to the windows. This seat is next to a grey wall. It's 36D if I'm correct. It ought to be sold at a heavily discounted fare, or allocated to the most obnoxious person at check-in.

On a recent flight I was allocated this very same seat by the P1 team and let me tell you they copped the biggest amount of flack ever from me.

this seat should simply NOT be there or the panel removed and the seat have a health warning due to its proximity to the toilet disgusting Horrible ill thought out seat that I will never ever ever allow any one to allocate to me. I would rather off load my self than sit there.. Oh and I ended up sitting up in the business lounge for the majority of the flight from DXB-MEL This picture brings back so many bad memories of that flight....

I wonder if I shall be able to sleep tonight

And thanks for the comments on the pics. My Mrs was just again shaking her head as I asked her to board quickly and then stand out of the way whilst I ran round the cabin with the phone. Even the cabin attendant just laughed. But I'm sure they've seen it all before as we now all live our lives through pics / forums / facebook / twitter / [insert social media name here] etc. But I figured there will be more of use needing to sit in Y on that bird, so wanted to share what it looked like to help people make an informed decision.

I was actually on the QF10 that recently got delayed in DXB due to aircon issues and the P1 team managed to get me on the very full next days QF10 as the the original one still wasn't going anywhere and the P1 team thought they had done me a good deed giving me an aisle seat. Let me assure you I do not think he will ever allocate this seat for a frequent or valued customer again.

I kndly suggested that perhaps he should either get to know the product better or use seat guru before allocating seats to Passengers.....

I will however say that the CSM on the flight was absolutely brilliant and did an excellent job of recovery with good food and wines being served in the J lounge so whilst I still have nightmares from time to time it could have been much worse lol.

Oh and I know my good lady shook her head and laughed when I booked the flights for the Honkers crawl, on Saturday afternoon and flying out that same evening for a total 13 hours visit. The things we do lol

Good choice. You can recline as much as you want without affecting another pax, it has more leg room than row 32 and a side storage bin.

A different spin ... 32 also has the side bin and has forward fake bin which equals space ... so I think 32 has more forward space.
Plus I like the way the VOD screen pulls out like premium economy. In 33 AB / JK we found that the person in front reclined regardless, which consumed a lot of the space in front of you. So watching a movie was harder, eating was harder, getting in and out of seat was harder, knee space reduced significantly. Unless you had your seat (33) reclined fully all the time, space was compressed by a significant amount.

Having now tried both, I'd be going for 32 especially where it is an overnight flight and you are 6 foot (approx) or less in height. Plus in 32 window you can rest your legs on the side bin and I found this easier to 'relax / sleep'.

I was thinking about 32 as well, but at the time I called, it wasn't available. I'll make sure to keep an eye out for T-80 in case it pops up.

Thanks for the pics - I have only been in the upper Y cabin once (32B) - the other time was taken away with an upgrade to emerald city. Hopefully I never have to endure Y on the A380 again!
For those who are wondering about the overhead bin space - remember this was originally designed to be a PE cabin with 5 less seats (I think 5), and even then overhead bin space was at a premium (no pun intended).

Thanks nonpop. A good summary of the mini cabin. I had 32A,B selected for my flight to HKG in November but have now been 'downgraded' to a 747.
