Complimentary Upgrades

I've re qualified WP and have 3 upgrades remaining with no DJ flights on the horizon...

This might be a silly question, but these upgrades can be used on anyone, right?

Slum it with a Flexi booking and upgrade immediately.

These appear to book into Q class.

There's two simple ways to see if Q class is available:

1 - Call Velocity Premium and ask

2 - Take a punt if H class is showing availability - that's reward Business and does tend to indicate Q class. (J>..>Q>..>H)

Secure the upgrade, then apply a $80 name change fee. Works a treat.

I did exactly as Serfty has recommended and it worked perfectly. In fact, as I was originally travelling on a discount Y, I had to 'upgrade' this to a fully-flexi and then get the call centre to upgrade me to J.

I was flying to/fro Perth out of Sydney and thought it was a terrific service. The flight crew were magnificent; so much so, I wrote to John Bornghetti about one guy. I've never had cause to do that on Qantas -- although have encountered some very good crew front of vessel (less so down the back!).
