OK I've put a rudimentary one together... if anyone wants access I think you can request at that link but you'd also need to PM me so I can verify your AFF 'regularity', although as a relative newcomer I may not be the best arbiter of this... suggestions welcome!

So can we resurrect this thread now that SCs will be calculated per sector, not per journey?!

I have already found a CRACKER out of MEL - 50 SCs for $179!

I've had a lot of people PM me asking for access to the spreadsheet. Although I started this thread, I can't grant you access - you need to PM lobo76 for access.

Go ahead - you start.

What's the "CRACKER"?

Look for cheap Flexis that route you through either BNE or OOL so you get 30+20......

PER - MEL - DRW Flexi is $319, comes out to $3.98/sc

CNS - BNE - TSV Saver is $99, comes out to $3.96/sc

My skills are not up to scratch :/

Remember, Flexi fares earn twice the amount of SCs as a Saver fare, so where the price of the Flexi is not much more than the Saver think about the value of the double SCs, Look for where the price of the Flex is the same whether you take the direct flight or not. Business Class earns twice as much as Flexis (i.e. 4 x as much as Savers) but Business is usually well over twice the cost of the Flexis.

My example was MEL-BNE-NTL Flex - $3.59 per SC.

If anyone wants to share great deals they have found - I consider anything under $5 per SC to be excellent value, and anything under $4 to be outstanding value.

If anyone ever sees MEL-BNE-DRW flex under $300, grab it - that's 30+40 = 70.

Me too! Tried Rocky and Mackay as well.

One I would consider is MEL-CBR-OOL, which has the oddity that it's usually cheaper to buy the Flexi than the Saver.
Sadly it only averages out at $5 per SC.

Re: Need 4 DJ sectors and 130 SCs by Sept 1

As I posted in the Sabre changes thread:

Whilst there seems to be a number of positive benefits for us as flyers from change to calculation of SC's, I can't help but feeling we haven't yet been told the full picture and there will be further changes (QF style enhancements) that will erode all of these perceived benefits. I think there will be a very limited opportunity to take advantage of the SC per sector anomaly. Just my gut feel.

Re: Need 4 DJ sectors and 130 SCs by Sept 1

Yep. I wouldn't be surprised to see the SC requirement for each status level and retaining it increased. Which means the majority of flights being single sector would leave everyone worse off.

I can also see points upgrades per sector, resulting in higher points required for multi sector trips, not to mention a change to the fare structure to remove the cheap SC earners being discussed here. This would be easy to change as part of the change to incorporate the new Saver Lite fare.

The other change I see is to SC earn as a result of the new Saver Lite fare, which I suspect will be priced the same as the current Saver, with reduced SC earn.

Hope I'm wrong though!

Re: Need 4 DJ sectors and 130 SCs by Sept 1

I actually posted the MEL-NTL one last time when we briefly thought it was by sector. It fly MEL-NTL every couple of months on average an the afternoon departure via BNE is suddenly seeming like i could put up with it.

Re: Need 4 DJ sectors and 130 SCs by Sept 1

This is a good change----- now ALL my flights will adhere to the motto : why fly direct when you can connect

It was sector by sector for a short time, which some of us took advantage of, before the Fokker tax was imposed.

That's my hometown :D
Super excited now, have always avoided the silly backwards leg through BNE
This even makes up for the lack of a lounge

Booked Business to DRW from SYD end of last year, at the time I had the opportunity to go via Perth for the same price which was $599.The thought of 8 hours in J turned my partner off. But earning 560 status points between us would have been handy.
