Does anyone know how to select a seat in the new system?
If I go into Bookings, there is nothing to click, I see the booking but there are no preferences that can be changed? Not that I can see anyway?
Going by seat selection when doing dummy new bookings, it seems to be the case for 73H/E90 flights, but the 14 days still for 332 flights.I had the same issue with a flight that ticked over the T-14 during the weekend. I had to ring up and have row 3 manually assigned. Was told it was a bug. However with some new bookings made for next week i still cant assign a seat for one leg(let me pick a seat for 1st flight but not the return). I was also told that there will be no more T-14 and you can allocate a seat up to 364 days out.
Manage Your Booking | Virgin Australia - second paragraph in the Note: section.I recall that too. I've been looking for the document which said it, but haven't been able to.

Yes absolutely.. the seat allocations should then show up online, but won't be editable. But we can call up for seat selections, right?
Rang to allocate seats for my parents for a flight in 9 days; as VA Gold, they could only get seats in row 15 and back...which is just b..l; she even checked with her supervisor:shock:. According to Expert Flyer, as a VA gold on a 737, seats from row 7 onwards are available on that partic. flight. Really frustrating experience....might call back on another day!OK, I made the call and after a 10 minute "Gold" hold I was greeted by a very pleasant agent who happily allocated seats for myself and SWMBO across 5 separate bookings.
Seat maps and resent e-ticket receipts have confirmed the allocation.
Seems that there is no status restriction in the busines cabin, although I do note E/F telling me the first 6 rows on 332's are reserved for WP based pre-selection.
I've attempted 2 platinum calls hung up on both after 10 to 15 minutes.

Disappointing with the new restrictions on seat selection for Golds....Rang to allocate seats for my parents for a flight in 9 days; as VA Gold, they could only get seats in row 15 and back...which is just b..l; she even checked with her supervisor:shock:. Disappointing with the new restrictions on seat selection for Golds....
Just had them on phone then... Didn't even have to wait, went straight through.
YMMV?
Which also has a knock on effect for Silver. I'm wondering if more Gold enhancements are coming or whether they'll actually consider some of the mentioned options to increase the platinum lustre. We know the QF definition of "enhancement" and I'm guessing we'll soon know the VA definition of "innovative".
PS - I might also add I'm not at all disappoving of the seat changes. Highest status should get best seats but the proviso being that Golds get the first option to select further forward seats at checkin over silver, bronze and Velocity non-members. We believe this is the case, but I'm not sure yet whether the remaining seats < row 7 open up to all at T-24, or just Gold.
I am pretty sure that Golds can get any free seats at checkin and heard rummors that they may open it up at T-24 as well.
