Did anyone get a message from Velocity today to change their PIN? I have a longish PIN on my account and the email asked me to change it to a 4 digit PIN. It seems odd that they think a 4 digit PIN is going to improve my security. Is it spam?

Received this email as well.

Reading between the lines, it would appear that you will be able to redeem your points for something in the future that will require a PIN number. Maybe you will be able to pay for petrol at BP with points? Whatever it is, it is most likely to be poor value.

Hmm. Well, I have a PIN, which is more secure. So, I'm pretty annoyed with them that I need to change to a 4 digit, it's insecure.

My Velocity account does not have a Personal Identification Number (PIN), it has a password.

I doubt any other account has a PIN either. Unless they are special.

Maybe I better go to the grammar thread...

Edit: just read the email, they want me to add/create a PIN not change my password.

Seems legit to me. Had to log in with my password then go to the next step of creating a 4 digit pin. Received another email to confirm the pin had been added

Ok, that makes sense. I'LL go to the comprehension, or lack thereof thread.

The more important question is how many points are they going to give me to set up a PIN?
;)

Yes, that is what I would like too :D But considering the changes lately, anything that they see as a fantastic benefit will probably mean higher cost or lesser options for me. I am almost getting to a stage where I start fearing the contents every time I get an email stating that they are going to "improve" and "great changes are coming".

I agree.

I believe VA are in talks with QF to licence the use of the word "enhancement".

My first response was to check that it wasn't a scam mail, it seemed like such a weird request...

Just got the e-mail. To me, it sounds like an invitation to opt into more marketing spam.

I keep forgetting my password, so *(maybe)* a Velocity PIN *(might)* be better than a forgotten password.
Hopefully Velocity accounts will be better than the hackable QFF accounts.

You'll probably be able to use points for petrol, but velocity will add a petrol filling fee. $5 for 91 E10/ $10 for 95 / $15 for 98, per squeeze of the nozzle handle. Diesel will fall under the new tier 2 fuel table, yet to be released.

And every so often when you try to use points for petrol the virgin IT gremlins will kick in, and the petrol will just go into an infinite loop between the car and bowser!

Perfect! Haha.

And of course you'll need to call before filling up to check availability... Just because the station has free bowsers doesn't mean you'll be able to use them!
