Is there an extra level beyond velocity platinum like CL?

I ask this question as flying to ROK today a previous pax had left a boarding pass in the pocket of seat 1A where I sat. On the boarding pass it showed him as a velocity VIP. I compared it to my BP and it was the same in every way except where mine says velocity platinum this one said velocity VIP. Any one seen or heard of this before. Just curious what it is. I did not recognise the name on the BP.

There is "the club" which is a Cl equivalent. Not sure how it is marked on a boarding pass though.

I can not remember reading on the thread how it is marketed on BP's.

Sounds like you've got a piece of the puzzle no one (who doesn't have it) has seen before... now we'll all be looking at others BP's. Well actually, I already do that on QF services :p

However, you have me curious now, were you on an ATR? Because as lovely as the exit row is, it's such a long wait to get out, which I wouldn't expect a VIP would be happy about ;)

I remember there was a thread somewhere where someone had a DYKWIA (who really put the W in DYKWIA) who was the Club who was flashing his BP around and pointing at the designator. Can't remember what it was though.

This thread found the VIP it in on the website: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....locity/velocity-frequent-flyer-vip-41389.html and here http://www.australianfrequentflyer..../level-above-platinum-velocity-vip-33044.html

I wonder if it's just a generic term for a guest of the airline, who may not be a VA member but gets the perks? Given it was in ROK I'm thinking someone like a middle mining or engineering company executive whom their trying to woo to shift company travel policy to them, but who VA doesn't see as completely worthy of full Club membership (or the like).

E90 Sam, thank goodness. No business class sold on the BNE - ROK leg but plats can choose the business seats.

If Mr Narev was a member of 'the Club' he wouldn't have been the Lounge (as the article states), he would have been upstairs in the Club lounge.

But I think it likely that the head of CBA was invited to become a CL member.

The Club members do indeed have VIP on their boarding pass. My boss is a member and takes great delight in showing me his boarding pass every time to remind me how special he is :)

He took me for lunch in the Brisbane lounge a few weeks back.... AMAZING!!!! A table was set for us, and a three course meal selected from the menu. A fantastic wine list available and every manner of spirits on hand.

We were alone in there from about 3:30pm until 4:30pm, then two other passengers came through. Nowhere near as busy as the Chairmanship Lounge seems to get.

He also gets automatic upgrade to business class 1A on every ticket, and a concierge meets him at the plane at the end of every trip. I've even seen flight crew move people out of 1A to accommodate.

Certainly has its perks... If you can get in :)

He tried hard to award me his partner membership, as I do most of the travel in our company. However Virgin are very strict on the policy of spouse only. Fair enough I guess.

.

Nice but odd choice of seat.
I'd have the D or F seat over 1A anytime on VA domestic

Maybe if they ever get back to me I'll demand they make me VIP!!
