On March 31st, WorldMate will be removed from the stores. Thank you for sharing this ... General Why are you closing the WorldMate app? Article created 3 days ...

Anyone with alternate app suggestions and whether you are able to transfer a current itinerary over?

Re: Worldmate being discontinued !

This could explain a few things. I used to use WorldMate and in the last 6-9 months noticed bugs not being fixed. It just got to the point where it annoyed me enough to look for an alternative.

I'm now using TripIt and very happy with it. Same deal as WorldMate. Just forward emails and it builds your trips. So if you still have your original booking emails (usually easy enough to regenerate them anyway) there should be no need to worry about transferring from WorldMate to TripIt.

My brother uses the kayak app which I believe is very similar.

I also use Google Trips but that's more for info on the location I'm travelling to.

sorry I have realised that this was posted this under Website/ Software / Hardware

TripIt is probably the main alternative.
You can send stuff to [email protected] to recreate (unsure if it would read an export from Worldmate)

Yes I had used both Tripcase and Tripit before finding Worldmate but that was some 5 plus years ago.

I just remember Worldmate being 100x better at the time.

I was wondering if anyone else has yet been able to compare an equal alternative ( it may be that the Tripit now have caught up) Currently looking at CheckMyTrip by Amadeus as I recall Amadeus that is what some of the more experienced AAFs use for checking flight options re points

I use Tripcase which is fairly good. I've used Tripit in the past bit the Pro was a bit expensive. May be worth another look.

Cheers Codash1099, I'll take a look.

BTW Sent a Qantas Hotel booking confirmation and whereas Worldmate takes it on board immediately CheckMyTrip says it will take some time...

i use tripit these days - free version

it scans my emails and picks up most bookings. some stuff it doesn't pick up so i email to [email protected] and it pretty much gets it right.

been handy to get my parents to sign up and then they can see all the bookings i've made for our holiday in a few months.

i'm no power user but find it pretty handy.

a tip is to monitor flights is to do a google search for the flight number. i use google now as much phone launcher and once i search for a flight it will monitor it for a few days for me. it will let you know if there's a delay - a feature i believe tripit pro includes.

Thanks Jeffrey, I recently found the app My Flights as being very good with respect to keeping you upto day regarding any flight changes and higlighting what that changes is, it also emails you to let you know rather than checking in on the app - but that is it prime purpose its not an itinerary app.

The feature I love about Worldmate is that it populates your itinerary with everything in order, flights hotels and cars such that it highlights any missing days you may have with respect to accommodation etc. Does Tripit do that now ?

Yes it does

for example i'm still booking stuff for my family UK holiday. So tripit currently shows the flights and hotel booking for 9 days in london, about 3 weeks of free days, then the airbnb accomm booked in Edinburgh and Glasgow, more free days then the trip on eurostar from London to Paris, accomm, eifel tower lunch then free days before the flights home.

You can break the trip down to segments too based on the days, and then it will assign bookings as they come in based on the dates.

it's free to sign up so i'd say give it a go and see if the pro features are worth the $$$ to you. i don't travel enough to bother with the pro upgrade.

Excellent!thanks I'l lgive it a go

Not familiar with Worldmate but use Tripit free version and like it. It does populate events in order for an itinerary, plus you can always merge items if Tripit hasn't done it for you. I'm sure Tripit Pro would be even better for more frequent travellers.

Well for those interested, I have been trying out both Tripit and Tripcase but unfortunately they both lack the single most important feature that endeared me to Worldmate (amongst a host of other features I might add).

IT does not identify missed bookings eg "Missing Accomodation : x nighst" ie you think you have sequenced your bookings and it highlights where you have not, or how many more nights you need to address.

They also do not lay out each and every day of your trip with your actions for instance using the accommodation example they show the hotel check in day and the hotel check out day, but not the ones in between. Showing all the days is a great visual aid in not only determining what you might like to do on those days but instantly show how many days are involved rather than going to a calendar to work it out.

I understand Worldmate was bought out by a new company because it was so damn good that they are literally keeping it for themselves so that only their customers can have exclusive use. Trouble is its aimed at the corporate market, so that means its an abrupt bye bye.

If anyone knows of an app that can sequence the bookings as I have mentioned above, I am all ears! I have a 6 week trip later this year and not having those features is really going to be noticeable for me and I would imagine I wont be alone.

Perhaps contact TripIt and TripCase and suggest these features. They might even already be in the works, you never know.

I use tripit (supported version but not pro). It does the sequenced day view in the Web interface, which is where I tend to do manual editing anyway. Seems to do a good job of providing an electronic itinerary to me.
With flight updates I find google automatically sends alerts for gate changes quite well. It is usually even quicker than the Qantas app for domestic flights. No idea on how or why it knows I'm on those flights but it works well.

If you use Gmail or Google Calendar, Google pulls that data..

Also shows hotel reservations and flights on Google Maps for example

Do you know if you can just email your bookings for this or does it only work by accessing your email account ? ( I've got so much old stuff , it'd be a nightmare if that was the only way)

Not aware that Google has an email.
I pull the VCal feed from TripIt into my Google Calendar, although as I use Gmail as well I do get some duplicates
