Hong Kong transit times

Hi There. I'm Jules, and a frequent traveler, but new to this forum. I'm about to travel to Hong KOng from MEL on my way to Israel. I have 9 hours free and booked a 5 hour tour to see some of HongKong Island. But the tour people have just told me the tour is now 6 hours and wont finish - downtown until 2pm. My flight leaves at 4.10pm. Is catching the Airport Express (say 30 min) back to the airport - so getting there at 2.30pm for my 4.10pm flight leaving enough time? I CAN'T miss this flight. You could try and do downtown checkin, perhaps even on your way into town (ie. pick up bags after MEL-HKG flight, head into town, drop bags at city checkin, then go on tour and head straight to airport afterwards as you're already checked in you'll save the queue at the airport.)

If your bags are already checked through to TLV, then it'll be easy, you can still checkin in town. Are you on CX or another carrier from HKG to (i presume) TLV?

IIRC the airport express takes less than 30mins anyway so provided the tour is on time, there should be no hassles.

An alternative would be to make your own intierary, it's pretty easy - cheap cabs for short hops, the subway is quick, clean and efficient, and the star ferry is a must.


Having said all of that, 90mins at HKG for checkin should be ok (just) anyway!

Oh cool. Thanks. Yes I'm heading to TLV, I get to Hong Kong on CX, but getting to TLV by LY (El Al Israel). Just really want to check out some of Hong Kong, but don't want the stress of missing the connection. Luggage will be booked through.

If you have boarding passes etc already issued for LY (which I'd ay you should given the luggage will be through checked), there should be no issue.

Will wait for others to agree/disagree.
