Hello,
Qs for my fellow FFs, Is JQ 7 reliable ie what is its cancellation, delay rate etc?
Has anyone experienced any significant delay on this flight? and What was the outcome?
The reason I am asking is I am planning to take this flight to attend a wedding in Singapore the following day of the flight. This gives me a grace period of a day.
Thanks in advance
KitKat

Flightstats gives it a poor rating; but it seems basically due to being late as there have been no cancellations in the sample period.

FlightStats - (JQ) Jetstar Airways 7 Historical On-time Performance Rating

We took it last week and everything seemed fine until it was 45 minutes or so late in boarding/deparure. It still arrived on time. Of course, that was some nice extra time spent in the MEL Flounge as a WP.

For a next day wedding, I'd be happy to take it.

Am not the one to ask...
Had a lovely 11hrs in the First Lounge in mid-Jan and missed a day of diving (did still arrive into SIN at 2am).

OK for us...roughly on time. This was a few days before moa999's unfortunate and significant delay, so you never can tell. My only concern would be a cancellation and subsequent inability/unwillingness to switch you to QF or whomever and then having to wait 24 hours for next flight. But I think that's a remote chance.

I saw a Monday flight cancelled recently, which created absolute carnage at the JQ check-in*, however most people were being accommodated onto the two JQi SYD flights, with a transfer in SYD to QF onwards to SIN. QF reps were waiting at the end of the aero-bridge in SYD, to guide transferring passengers toward their connecting service.

*Jetstar check-in failed to cope without creating massive delays; they ended up with a queue which snaked out of control beyond their little alcove, and out down the middle of one of the main counter check-in area aisles.

Perhaps multi-tasking would have helped the situation; three separate queues for each flight (SIN, SYD1/DPS & SYD2/HNL) would have enabled customers to see what was going on, and where to queue - instead of the mess of ONE queue for ALL flights, but with ALL check-in reps singularly allocated to ONE flight at a time.

This caused additional angst amongst the check-in reps, as they all fought amongst themselves to reaccommodate the SIN passengers, creating a bottleneck and poor work-flow. IMO they would have been significantly more efficient to have dedicated a handful of the reps to SIN passengers, within ear-shot of each other to aide co-ordination, while the remainder checked-in the SYD+ passengers.

Tarmac ground staff were equally single task focussed. So when the 2nd Sydney flight had finished boarding, it was unable to push back as the first Sydney flight was still being loaded. So the 2nd Sydney flight sat on the ground, front door shut, waiting for sometime for the 1st flight to be finalised and push back, before it was able to go anywhere. (Creating an additional delay, where one wasn't necessary, and flowing onto the SYD-HNL flight.)

Multi-tasking multiple flight departures + a cancellation, did not seem to be the strong point of the manager/supervisor that day.

That could be the 7th Feb.

Interestingly, FlightStats do not show it as cancelled, merely "Undefined".

At least there can be QF9/QF31 options should this flight not operate.

Hi KitKat
I flew JQ7 Thursday Feb.17 and this flight arrived 10 minutes earlier than scheduled around 16.30. The check in @ Tullamarine was a dedicated JQ desk that was hard to find as it's at the back of the standard check in counters but once there moved fairly quickly. Unfortunately does not have a QF club check in which in my opinion should have in conjunction with Star Class pax but that's a gripe for another day on JQ flights

Thanks everyone for the varied responses. I have made a punt and bought a sale star class fare in May......will see how all this goes
Hopefully would not be in the bad books of KitKat+1

I'm losing my JQ virginity by flying JQ7 on 15 May. Picked up a cheap StarClass ticket for about the same price as QF economy in their recent promo, but I have a connecting flight from SIN with a connection window of 3 hours and 20 mins. I pray it all comes together!

On a related note, what has been the general trend with JQ36 DPS-MEL?

Normally it wouldn't matter but in this instance I have to get into MEL on JQ36, then immediately fly off to LAS 5 hours later (MEL-SYD-SFO-LAS)... don't ask. I think I'm more worried about raising an eyebrow or 2 at immigration/customs and possibly be filmed by Border Security than I am about missing my flights.:rolleyes:

Bumped. Anyone?

Too late now as the MEL-SFO journey has now been ticketed. But I just need some reassurance for my peace of mind. Flight stas showing 'average' which isn't saying much...

And has anyone done turnarounds in Australia without getting into trouble at immigration/customs? At least it's not US immigration I s'pose.

Jetstar JQ7 to SIN

Hello all

I have a seat booked on JQ7 to SIN for Apr and I noticed from FlightStats that this flight seems to have a pretty poor departure record. On a number of occassions this year, the flight has been cancelled altogather.

Does anybody know if the aircraft for this flight is from another late departure or do JQ just use the one aircraft for its MEL-SIN-MEL service ?

Has anybody flown this route recently with them ? I have a connecting flight from SIN the following day and was wondering if the flight is cancelled, would JQ just shuffle every passenger onto the same flight the next day or would they try and use some QF flights to move them on the same day ?

Thanks

Mox

Easy enough to do... it's probably time for some sort of Jetstar specific posting area, to bring all Jetstar related threads into one easy find location:idea:

Anyway, a moderator appears to have merged your new thread with the old one now.

Just back from a trip which nealry never started. With just 12 hours before departure Jetstar cancelled my flight on JQ7 on 28 Apr 2011.

I was flying from Sydney to connect to the MEL-SIN service to take advantage of a Starclass promotion and JQ 7 was cancelled. The text message I received told me to contact Jetstar on a phone number. It took over an hour from when I dialled the number to the time the situation was resolved, or at least completed, with Jetstar, having spoken to someone who had to be first day on the job.

In the end I ended up cancelling and rebooking with Qantas as Jetstar could not get me to Singapore in Starclass in time to make my connections. My refund from Jetstar did arrive in 15 business days as promised and they loked forward to "seeing me again". Ha! Never seen me before, unlikely to ever see me.

We're flying up to SIN on June 9 for a few days at Sentosa then onto Siem reap. Given the less than stellar performance noted by several posters, does anyone a recommendation for cancellation insurance only? I have medical insurance thorugh the company I work for that is good worldwide so just want to cover lost hotel costs, etc just in case.

Very rare for 3K to have a cancellation or delays.

To the contrary, I've seen quite a few 3K flights from SIN being cancelled.

Although, if you are referring to JQ7 (as you are going up to SIN), then, yes, you should look at insurance. FYI, the May 12 JQ7/8 rotation was cancelled as well. If I'm not mistaken, the cancellation rate is about 2 - 4 times per month since Feb.

Was delayed for about two hours as well on May 25th. Seems to be a regular occurrence to be delayed in the few days I checked with flightstats. Disappointing.
Would I fly this again (in Starclass/Business)? NO, unless reliability improves dramatically
