Hi there, Does anyone have any thoughts on which would be more comfortable.

Syd-Hnl in Star Class Jetstar
or Syd-hnl on QF in econ and booking the exit seats.
I figure both options cost around the same. QF only 1 flight or so per week, but we are able to work with that.
What do you think ?

Jetstar have a Starclass sale on at the moment. I just booked to Honolulu in June.

In answer to your question, I would say Starclass. Just like Qantas domestic business class. I have flown Starclass to Honolulu and coughet and it was fine both times. Also has the advantage of earning business class status credits.

Starclass!

I am waiting for a sale for Nov/Dec and will be heading back to Hawaii again

Hopefully the dollar stays the same then!

zahra01,

Welcome to AFF. :D

Star class is much better than economy class. No discussion necessary.

Considering that the SYD-HNL flights are on Qantas' geriatric and unsuitable 763s one could easily make a case for Jetstar Y being better than Qantas Y in this instance.

If you really had to travel QF one way, do it on the SYD-HNL leg as it's overnight so you can hopefully sleep through what would otherwise be an extremely long and torturous QF 763 experience.

Starclass for sure - have flown with JQi in Starclass twice to Hawaii and it was great. Have the meat pie too - they're the same as the ones they serve in Emirates First class - awesome!

We have consensus !

Starclass priority check-in + business lounge access is also another positive, esp if the OP does not have any QF SG/WP/CL status

This ^

I flew the 763 last Nov SYD-HNL and it has to be one of the worst flights I've ever had. I remember how bad I felt while waiting at customs and thinking my previous Jetstar flights in Y to Thailand were actually better.

The 763 for 9hrs in whY is not the way to start a Hawaiian holiday!

Starclass all the way.

Just got back the other day from coughet flying Starclass. Access to the QF business lounge in SYD, not to mention accruing business level points and status credits is a big plus. The entertainment system isnt flash and the food was average (except for the cheese & wine trolley - that was much appreciated!), but I was really comfortable, the staff were great and I'd definitely fly Starclass again, particularly over QF economy.

FWIW, I'd fly on a QF 763 with Dreamtime seats any day if same ball park price as Starclass Millennium seats.

IMHO, they are a lot more comfortable ...

Star Class to get the extra SCs & points if nothing else.

We have consensus !
So 10 people answering a thread on AFF is a consensus?

Good to see the rest of the travelling public filling up the starclass cabins on every route.

FWIW I would rather fly that long sector on a QF 763 in economy bulkhead than anything JQ has to offer.

I've booked QF J SYD - HNL return. What am I going to get over and above Starclass?
