Was in the VB Lounge in Melbourne on Thursday and overheard staffer telling a passenger that Virgin are ending Priorty Pass access with the new lounge changes. I hope this is not correct if anyone has any further details would be glad to hear.

That sucks (if true).

Also interested in knowing further details (if available).

Hmmm (if true) wonder why, their lounges are hardly bustling with customers...?

I do hope not. I love using the DJ lounge in BNE through PP when flying QF!

A shame but it makes sense really, it won't be possible to deploy a new J offering which includes lounge access worth at most $35. Will be interesting to see what changes are on the way.

Actually that's a good point maybe they are putting in special J areas inside the Lounges! Therefore reducing space in the general lounge - so they bin the PP 'free loaders'

With DJ being more focused at getting new business and redoing the lounges, I would expect they see PP as competition to their own lounge membership sales, especially as its likely the cost of the lounge updates will mean a rise in membership dues and I doubt the PP payments for its membership using lounge facilities provides much profit in the first place.

I also think the recent airline alliances offer improved value for Lounge members as well when it comes to global access.

It would be disappointing news if it is true. Maybe we will need Amex to step up to the plate with an offer to help us out

re: Virgin Blue & Priority Pass Lounge Access Ending July 14th 2011

Well I used the DJ lounge in PER on Friday and personally it wouldn't be a loss there.. wasn't overly impressed with it.

OTH I do hope it is wrong as it will limit the PP lounges in Australia. not that I really need it here..

Is it possible they may have meant that they will end the access DURING the changes (ie. are they just not allowing PP access while the renovations are happening, possibly due to the more limited capacity?)

Bit of a bugger - mind you I took advantage of the Velocity Gold status matching so don't need to use the PP that came with my Amex. Can't see QF doing a deal with PP for lounge access either.

Used PP 'anytime access' in syd today. Definitely very handy but it does devalue some credit cards now that it won't be useful in oz

I was in Continental Lounge in Fort Lauderdale last week and there was a sign in there saying it was stopping access to Priorty Pass and AMEX Centurion card holders.

I was just reading up on the Citiselect card (Citi Select - Citibank Australia) and notice they mention the PP as a benefit. If PP is not going to provide access to The Lounge it is going to be of limited value in Oz.

I have had this issue on my mind as well. If it happens, it will certainly weaken the value proposition for us in Australia.

re: Virgin Blue & Priority Pass Lounge Access Ending July 14th 2011

I've only just found this thread, and I am somewhat alarmed that PP is to be banned. However, I must say, that in my 6 visits to the Lounge so far this year in MEL, SYD and ADL, no-one has informed me that PP will no longer be accepted.

re: Virgin Blue & Priority Pass Lounge Access Ending July 14th 2011

Has this actually been confirmed by DJ?

re: Virgin Blue & Priority Pass Lounge Access Ending July 14th 2011

I actually emailed PP asking if the access was being removed, following the refurbishment. Obviously something was lost in translation with the office being in Hong Kong, as they said "yes there are temporary lounges during the refurbishment".

So I emailed back again to explain that's not what I was asking, and to ask if it was true that the DJ lounges are being removed from the program. I've received no reply and that email was sent weeks ago.
