Re: AAdvantage devaluation

That explain the higher bonus on miles purchase promotion. Glad I redeemed the BOS-HKG with CX coming Sept - 67,500AA vs 110,000AA and EY F Apartment - 60,000AA vs 100,000AA. OUCH!!

Bit of a shocker for Europe (in 000miles): 60 (Y)/85(J)/115(F) so an increase of 33-44%. However Within South Pacific now 15(Y)/30(J) including New Zealand(only 25 for J). Within Australia only slight change 10 (Y)/20(J). Better start booking now!

A big hit on award availability in the coming months where people start making bookings before the devaluation kicks in on 22 March 2016. Not looking good.

Re: AAdvantage devaluation

Etihad Apartments up by 66%!!! (South Pac to ME). And the EU and NA first class rate increase are a lot more than I had imagined.

Sad day indeed.

Re: AAdvantage devaluation

This really suck. Hopefully I can book some flights and do date changes without penalty.

Re: AAdvantage devaluation

Not necessarily bad.Premium cabin sAAver Aawards have virtually disappeared on AA metal for the last 2 years and getting harder to get partner awards as everyone is now after them.So if we see the return of sAAver Aawards on AA longhaul with these changes I will not be too disappointed-in fact happier than I am now with Aadvantage.

Currently, it is actually 20K/35K round trip or 10K/17½K one way.

From March 22nd (one way).

Wholly Australia to be 10K/20K (+0/+2½K) (0%/+14%)
Australia to/from NZ to be 15K/25K (+5K/+7½k) (+50%/+43%)

Wow, you just simply cannot trust these people. Continually changing the goal posts. It really discourages me from building large balances of points. But on the other hand, I feel pressure to build up a large balance by paying for points from ATO spend before the ability to do it stops

Really? It's a business... and this is hardly surprising at all.

Of course I'll be making some bookings before the change however 'changing the goal posts'... there's been talk about a devaluation for 12 months and they've given 4 months notice. I thin that's pretty fair.

Any news on partner earn? Some of the redemption pain may be offset if the earn rate is better but double-whammy if reduced

Maybe FT and AFF can build a campaign just like Citi and pressure them into reversing the changes? LOL.

The Middle East / India <> South Pacific change is an absolute shocker. From 45,000 to 80,000. I think a lot of people were enjoying this award especially for QR/EY bookings.

Its bad... Time to burn those miles... I suppose they are just aligning themselves with United & Delta...

Oh well. Got screwed by Qantas and now getting screwed by American.

Will have to rethink a planned future DONE5 that involved repositioning to JNB since it's gone from 50k to 80k in J.

Unfortunately neither the partner nor I are in a position to burn our stash of miles before the devaluation.

What will be interesting is to see how they calculate earning of miles on xONEx tickets which generally include carriers other than AA.

On the glass half full side, it's only a few extra points to push onto Europe on QR

Disappointing!

I was just getting my AA miles to near a usable level, now this. Best get in and organise something soon.

Ouch, certainly makes it hard given the lower AUD as well. Glad we got our JAL flights for next year locked in, but EY F is now looking further out of reach....
