On a positive there maybe more J seats available cause nobody will have be points for em!

Geez, I wish I didn't have 200K AA points. Quick, what should I book ideas - anywhere J and above?

I'm obviously pretty annoyed about this. If it's any consolation, it's not just Aussie redemptions that are affected - all zones are equally worse off...

One thing I did notice is that a whole lot of new countries are now part of the "South Pacific" zone. Could this lead to some good opportunities down the track?

South Pacific zone definitely hit harder than US originating awards which have only increased 7,500-10,000 from US-Europe or US- Asia 1/2 in J as opposed to a 35,000 increase for us. I did see that its now 5000 less for an Oz <> Asia 1 award from 45,000 down to 40,000.

The Middle East / India <> South Pacific change is an absolute shocker. From 45,000 to 80,000. I think a lot of people were enjoying this award especially for QR/EY bookings.
Go figure a QF redemption on Qatar in F from BBK-DOH is now cheaper with Qantas points, never thought I'd see that.

The changes were not too bad for me as I mainly focus on AU to Asia J awards. There is slight increase in Asia 2 J and actually a reduction for Asia 1 J. It could have been worse.

Now that the chart is out now I can rest easier. However there are still 550k AA miles for us to burn and I already have next year's plan booked. Thank goodness most of my points were purchased on 100% bonus on US miles at Aussie dollar = 1-1.1Usd.

I wonder if that is Christmas Island (and Cocos) in the Indian Ocean. There are other Christmas Is, but it does say plural, so maybe it covers all the Oceans' Christmas Is.

Sri Lanka being moved from Asia 2 to ME/India is a huge kick. From 35k in J to 80k. Woe is me.

not happy, especially when the error comes up those flights are no longer available

willing to to take anything as I have 700k

awful. The last bastion of FF cheapness has fallen. I might as well switch now to Delta Skypesos

But for how long?....the clock must be ticking

Yes, there still is AS but I only have a few miles built up there.

The pain will be in my AA account as some of the new Award prices are just plain ridiculous.

Apart from SWP to Asia 1 which goes down from 45000 to 40000 in J are there any other benefits to take some of the sting out of this awful devaluation?

I also noticed the large expansion of the SWP list to include many new destinations including Guam but the problem will be that many of of these places will not be accessible without crossing into another zone and then copping 2 Award redemptions rather than one.

Definitely time to bring our next family holiday forward - multiply the new Award redemptions x 4 to anywhere and the figures become astronomical :evil::evil:

Except that no oneworld airline flies to most of those destinations!!

Not surprised that a devaluation happened, but very disappointed by the severity of it.

It's good that they gave a decent amount of notice, which softens the blow ever so slightly.
